As colleagues, partners, local residents, healthcare professionals, supporters and families who are involved in the brain injury centre’s work, the purpose of this consultation is to explain the proposal and seek your views. The current situation Banstead Place is a Grade II* listed building built in 1790 with adjoining buildings added more recently. Due to its age the maintenance bill has risen each year and over the next five years will be nearly a million pounds. Operating costs are also very high, 40% more than QEF Independent Living Services in Leatherhead. Facilities such as the majority of clients’ rooms do not have en suite toilets or bathrooms. The cost of upgrading rooms at Banstead Place would be in the region of £2million. The proposal To continue to deliver the highest standard of care and therapies QEF proposes a new state of the art 24 bedroom Care & Rehabilitation Centre to be built on the new campus site at Woodlands Road, Leatherhead, within which rehabilitation services can be provided. All bedrooms would have en suite facilities and be located on the ground floor with views of the gardens. There will be space for specialist therapies, leisure and recreational facilities, and kitchen and dining areas.
