Conveyor Construction
Main structure fabricated from QME’s standard design
The conveyor is a fabricated truss framework with minimum 600mm wide grid mesh walkway up one or both
sides of conveyor and up to 900mm around head. Walkways are built in accordance with AS 1657.
Head and Tail Drums have welded shafts running in self
aligning labyrinth sealed roller bearings. The head and tail
drums are crowned for self centering of the belt. The conveyor is driven via a shaft mounted geared reduction gearbox driven by a 30 kW electric motor. The gearbox is fitted
with a anti-roll back device as well as a shaft mounted taper grip locking mechanism to prevent freezing on the
shaft.
Troughing roller frames spacings under the receiving hopper at 250mm centres or optional impact bed, with all
other troughing frames at 1 metre centres. Return roller
spacings at 3 metre centres. Heavy duty belt.
Luffing Feature
Raising and lowering of the conveyor is via one (1) large
heavy duty hydraulic ram. The shaft of the hydraulic ram
is fitted with a protective vinyl constantina sleeve. The
hydraulic supply is via a single pump hydraulic control
unit using a 15 kW drive. The truss is engineered and designed so well that in the event of a hydraulic failure, the
conveyor will slowly lower itself and rest on the stockpile
with no strain whatsoever on the frame work and more
importantly, with no damage.

Slewing Feature
The slewing/base structure is fabricated from a minimum 150mm PFC using a heavy duty slewing bearing
with remote grease lines. The slewing section of the
conveyor is attached to the travelling structure via two
(2) sets of twin 180mm UB steel beams with 75mm x
75mm x 8mm angle as lattice bracing fabricated from
200mm UB steel beams.
The travelling base is constructed from
380mm PFC steel beams. The travelling
mechanism is via a 1.1 kW electric motor
and suitable chain and sprocket reduction drive through duel 12.00 - 20 pneumatic tyres that are foam filled.
