Year of Consecrated Life Say a word of gratitude to the saintly folks around you today— the moms and dads balancing family and work, the parish priests comforting those who mourn, the deacons ministering to the sick in hospitals, the religious sisters and brothers teaching and advocating for the poor, the spiritual writers offering enrichment to hungry souls—and everyone else in between. Live a life you can be proud of tomorrow. Stop wishing it away waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love with you. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now. Reminder: Youth Group will meet on Tuesday, May 19th & 26th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Social Hall Youth Room. We will soon move to the summer schedule but will still have as much fellowship, friendship, service projects, outings, music, food, snacks, and FUN as we can fit in. Many things are planned for the coming weeks. Even though summer vacation is right around the corner remember, attend Mass regularly, Jesus would never take a break from us, so why should we take a break from Him? And pray daily, Prayer is the most important conversation of your day. Take it to God before you take it to anyone else. If you are interested in joining or would like some information, please call Darla Losteter, Youth Group Director at 412-9538119 or the Parish Office at 412-672-7209. God is love. Without God our week would be Sinday, Mournday, Tearsday, Wasteday, Thirstday, Fightday, Shatterday. Seven days without God...makes one weak! A Family Perspective by Bud Ozar Jesus was worried about his disciples and he turned to prayer. No matter how much time we spend trying to “guard and protect” our children, each day they become less dependent on us and we must let go and let God. Prayer and parenting go together. Marriage Moments Praying together as a couple can be a deep and perhaps awkward form of intimacy. It takes great trust to pour out your heart to God in the presence of your spouse. A first step may be praying for each other even if not in one another’s presence. A second step may be silent meditation in each other’s presence. Take a step this week. Parenting Pointers Ascension: As we remember Jesus ascending into heaven, perhaps you and your child could “lift up” in prayer the memory of deceased relatives who have gone to be with God. Even though we don’t know where “heaven” is, children can watch a balloon or kite ascend toward the heavensand pray. Bus-Trip-A Fruitful Brown Bag Tour-Columbiana, Ohio 1.
