RBS secures funding for
international horse transporter
• John Parker International Ltd has secured new premises
for additional stables in Kent
•RBS has financially supported this latest expansion with
a £800,000 funding package
•New premises will create further jobs in Kent

International horse transport company, John Parker International Ltd, has
secured additional premises in Stelling Minnis, near Hythe, with the financial
backing from long-term banking partner The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).
John Parker International is very much a family run business with John Parker
at the helm - his wife, son and daughter-in-law each have a day to day ‘hands
on’ role. The company is responsible for transporting between 4,000-5,000
horses worldwide by road using six horse boxes throughout Europe and by air
to the rest of the world – these horses are transported for competitions, shows,
training, breeding, buying and selling as well as private clients moving country.
John Parker, a former show jumper, has owned the farm in Hythe for the last
18 years after relocating back to Kent for logistical reasons – this yard has 24
stables and the new premises will more than double this capacity to quarantine
and prepare horses for import and export. It will also increase the available
transit stables, avoiding heavy costs involved for resting horses. The new yard
will lead to further job creation down the line – John Parker International Ltd
employs 20 full-time staff members to manage the logistics and maintenance
of the horses, lorries and premises.
