Earth Day
Softball begins 2015 Season
This Earth Day you can do numerous
things to help the planet! Things
like shutting off the water while brushing your teeth, or turning the light off
when you leave the room can make a
difference. If every person does one
small thing to help, who knows what
we can accomplish. Recycle, recycle,
recycle! It is so easy, and it benefits the
world significantly by putting less
waste in the landfills. You can also buy
compact fluorescent lamps for your
home. They use 1/4 the amount of energy a regular bulb does and last ten
times longer! You can even go out with
your family and plant a couple trees. If
you live in town, walk or ride your bike
instead of driving. It creates no pollution and you'll even get some exercise.
This Earth Day, you can do almost effortless things to help the planet, which
will definitely be worth your while in
the years to come. Story by Sophia Michael

This year’s annual trip to Don Quijote was loco! Students from Señora Benner’s
Spanish 3 class left early in the morning to make the trip to Valparaiso. Everyone was able to experience traditional Spanish food such as tortillas de patatas
(potato omelets), tapas (meatballs), and paella. Students were also able to see
the culture of Spain through flamenco dances that were performed by the family
who owns the restaurant. It was an honor to experience the culture of Spanish
life. Students enjoyed the entertainment, food, and time away from school!

What was your promposal?
Mr. Stevens became the new head
baseball coach again this year.
Many current students may not
know he coached back in the late
nineties. After a long break, he is
back and doing his best with a
team of inexperienced players
whom he expects will be an extremely solid team by the end of
this year. During the off-season,
he held morning hitting practice
and lifting after school to get the
guys in shape and get their hitting
up to par. Although they currently
stand with a 2-7 record, a 13-1 victory against Tri-County where
Keegan Stevens pitched a 10
strikeout 1 allowed hit game
shows a glimpse at the team’s potential.

Uria Gerlach - Junior.
“I got home from work, and I heard Sam
Smith playing in my backyard. When I
walked back there, there was a candle lit
pathway leading up to my date,. He was
holding a poster saying it would light up
my night if you flew away to prom with
me. There was also a couple of his friends
holding up paper sky lanterns that
spelled out Prom. Then he ran to his car
because he forgot to give me the flowers.
It was cute. It was really cute.”

“I was hanging out with some friends,
and I left the room. When I came back in,
nobody was there. Then a bunch of people popped out holding signs that spelled
out prom and my date was standing in
the middle of the room kinda dancing to
the music that was playing in the background. I was very surprised, and it was
very sweet!” Interviews by Anjel Clemente
