District Wide Spelling Bee to be held at the Performing Arts Center. District Wide Instrumental Music Festivals June 8-11 Graduation Week It's fair to say that the PYLUSD community members do not need this proclamation. We had over 200 volunteers make the 3rd Annual ShamRock 'n Run a huge success. The Charlotte Diamond Field Trip and Concert was another event made possible by our volunteers. I am personally grateful for every volunteer and every minute given to our schools. Additionally I am especially thankful for our dedicated board that gives their time, talent and energy with humor day in and day out. Julie Nibali, President SPRING 2015 R.E.A.C.H FOUNDATION ArtWorks! Amazing Student Art on Display Once a year PYLUSD has a special event, open to the public, that provides a wonderful view into student artwork for all to enjoy. The art teachers have carefully selected each piece on display and you can view everything from dimensional art, ceramics, illustrations, mixed media to digital media created from across the district. This is the only PYLUSD event where all of our 34 schools participate. This is no ordinary art event and you have to see it to believe it. This special event will be held on April 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22 and 23 at the Professional Development Academy at 4999 Casa Loma Avenue in Yorba Linda. New this year is a special Appreciation of the Arts Day on Saturday, April 18. Please make time to join us as we celebrate the wonder of creativity. Get updates via our Facebook page or website at reach4pylusd.org. New this year is the first event to help us towards our Academics goal - a District Wide Spelling Bee! All PYLUSD 3rd through 6th grade students are eligible to compete in this special event. All rules for participation are posted at our website. And we could not have held this event on behalf of our students without the help of community partners Kumon of Placentia and Kiwanis of Placentia. They have partnered with us to sponsor and assist with everything from event planning, logistics and student preparation. This event is open to the public and will be held on Saturday, April 18th at the beautiful Performing Arts Center at 1651 N. Valencia Avenue in Placentia. 2 SPRING 2015 R.E.A.C.H FOUNDATION Importance of the District Wide Track Meet Dear Julie, First, I want to say that it is our gratitude that should be profusely expressed to you and the R.E.A.C.H. Foundation! Watching the pride, demonstrations of "giving your best" and sheer enjoyment from our district middle school students was an uplifting reminder of the joy of serving students in our administrative positions. Watching our students' faces as they came down the track or cleared the bar with the stands screaming support cheers for them was an experience that so many of them had never before had - and for so many a motivation for future success. I saw outstanding sportsmanship - ex. Students from all of our schools smiling through an exhausting event ending, leaning over to congratulate a track member of another school. We are grateful for all of your interest, financial support, and the belief in providing enriching experiences for our kids. Rose Marie Baldwin-Shirey, Principal Tuffree MS 3 R.E.A.C.H.
