One of the useful aspects of working with a compass and straight edge is their ability to
be used on large-scale designs. Next week, you’ll be using chalk and string as both a
compass and straight edge to create a geometric design in the courtyard.
Your design must include 4 points worth of constructions from each toolkit. The value of
the various constructions has been listed in the rubric below. You receive credit when
you perform the construction using an appropriate method. This means you did not use
estimation, but rather you used your Geometry knowledge to create the given shape or
element. Your group will also receive credit for the creativity of your design, and for
accuracy when implementing it.
An example design and rubric is given below. The back of this sheet has space to create
your own design and check it against the rubric.
