About 150 members of the
NETWORK met in Montreal
on February 27-28 for the
NETWORK Winter Gathering.

Formal activities of the NETWORK were held on the first
day, including the election of
Odile Joannette for the CoChair mandate for 2015-2016
and of Nakuset for the CoChair mandate for 2015-2017.

transversal priorities, won a beautiful work of art of a value of $300,

Sacrés/11 Nations.
Activities for families were
scheduled for the second day.
Children participated in storytelling, hoop dance and craft
and paint activities, as well as in
a Aboriginal cooking workshop.

Request for proposals 2015-2016 : Urban Partnerships
The RCAAQ is releasing a
Request for Proposals for
its 2015-2016 Urban Partnerships (UP) Program.
The realigned Urban Aboriginal Strategy (UAS) is a
strategic framework implemented by the Department of Aboriginal
Affairs and Northern
Development Canada to
address urban Aboriginal
issues in the multijurisdictional and multistakeholder environment
of Canada’s urban
centres.
In Québec, the RCAAQ is
responsible for administering the Urban Partnerships Program.

Creative writing and arts
program for Aboriginal
youth
Aboriginal Arts & Stories invites
self-identified First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth (ages 11 to
29) to submit a piece of creative
writing or visual art for a chance
to have their work published or
exhibited and win up to $2,000.
Youth are invited to submit
creative writing or visual arts
and share stories about their
families, communities, culture
and heritage. Past works have
explored contemporary and historical Aboriginal experiences
from diverse viewpoints.
The goal of this contest is to
encourage creative expression amongst self-identified
Aboriginal youth, provide
greater visibility for their artwork and create networking
and scholarship opportunities
for aspiring young artists.
Teachers are invited to encourage Aboriginal students
with an interest in writing and
visual arts to submit to the
contest. Free curriculumbased resources and activities
are available for download to
help students during the creative process. Groups of six or

more individual entries are eligible for an additional prize.
The contest deadline is March
31, 2015

Electricity Training Program
The First Nations Adult
Education School Council is pleased to announce the beginning of
an Electricity training
program!
When: The program will
start on March 24, 2015.
Courses will take place
from 3:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
Where: At the Pearson
Electrotechnology Center
Support services will be
offered at the First Nations Regional Adult Education Center (FNRAEC)
in Kahnawake, 1679 Mohawk Trail, Kahnawake.
Places are limited and priority will be given to those
with the necessary prerequisites.

and interpreter
from Manawan in
the Lanaudière area.

emotional and cultural support services to former Indian Residential School (IRS)
students and their families
before, during, and after participation in Settlement
Agreement (SA) processes,
including Common Experience Payments (CEP) and the
Independent Assessment Process (IAP), as well as those
who participated in Truth and
Reconciliation Commission
events and Commemoration
activities.
