Position Summary:
Members-at-Large participate in hearings heard by the Residence Conduct Board (RCB), a body that
addresses appeals of violations of the Residence Rules and Regulations. During hearings, Members hear
appeal cases, weigh evidence and determine the level of responsibility for violations of the Residence
Rules and Regulations. The appointee works on behalf of the Residence Society (ResSoc) and Residence
Life to ensure the effective operation of the Student Conduct Process. Each Member-at-Large should
expect to work approximately 3-4 hours bi-weekly.
Expectations:
Participate in the mandatory Residence Conduct Board training program
Maintain confidentiality at all times and ensure all individuals within the student conduct
process are treated with respect
Develop a positive working relationship with fellow staff and volunteer members
Attend hearings of the Residence Conduct Board, as scheduled
Non-traditional hours of work, including evenings (and Training Weekend)
Eligibility:
a) Must be enrolled at Queen’s University as a full-time student in Good Standing within their
Faculty, for the 2015-2016 academic year
b) Must be legally entitled to work in Canada or possess a valid student visa
c) Must be available for training
Skills and Experience Sought:
Logical decision making
Demonstrate reliable and professional work ethic
Knowledge of the Queen’s student conduct process an asset
Strong interpersonal and excellent oral communication skills
Proven ability to work collaboratively on a team and independently
Ability to work in a confidential setting
Excellent time management skills and an ability to work within tight deadlines
Experience living in a residential setting an asset
Compensation:
RCB Members-At-Large are compensated in the amount of $100 per term, which is paid in two
installments (January and April).
