DETAILS
 MANDATORY CLASSES - Flotillas 64 and 67 continue to offer those classes after their
monthly meetings.
 May 12th - a 1 hour OPS and 1 hour TCT was conducted by FSO-OPS, Mark McLaughlin,
before the FLT 64 meeting.
 FLT 6-10 May 14th KSCO Radio Interview–Tammera Badano, Public Affairs Staff Officer,
stepped in for her first interview by the station’s main announcer “Rosie”. She did an excellent
job as was said by many members who listened in on the interview that morning.
 FLT 64 May 16th NSBW Information Display – Auxiliarist’s Budlong and Johnson set up for
the event. Those who also volunteered were Cecil Claspell, Eileen Robinson and Keith
Bielsker. Lots of traffic from the public at this Lover’s Point location as it was close to the
water with Paddleboard activities, a hamburger stand and Adventures by the Sea rentals. A
very successful and fun event was had by all who participated.
 Flotillas 67 & 6-10 May 16th NSBW at Santa Cruz Harbor – The event included Active
Duty Coast Guard presence with the 29’ RBS, Harbor Patrol boat & crew, two Auxiliary
Facilities with crew, Vessel Safety Checks were conducted, and a radio watch at Auxiliary
Radio Tower. 67 & 6-10’s booth was at a prime location at the Launch Ramp with a good








amount of foot traffic. Those that volunteered, with our Public Affairs Staff Officer, Tammera
Badano, as our lead, were Mike Badano, Scott Galloway, Wally and Jane Smith, new members
Cami Corvin and Harry Lindell. The 616 Facility crew was Dave Wormington, Chuck Cobery
and Lynda Dossett. Auxiliary Vessel, 219 was crewed by Wally and Jane Smith and Scott
Galloway.
Flotillas 6-10 & 64 May 20th – EMS event – Tammera Badano, being involved in EMS in
Monterey County, received approval to invite the Coast Guard & Auxiliary to participate in this
event. This was an opportunity to reach out to elementary school aged children that we would
not regularly have access to normally. A notice went out to our Division for participation and
Station Monterey. Members from Flotillas 64, 6-10 and Division leadership participated.
There was also an appearance of Auxtter, our otter mascot, which the children really delighted
engaged in hugs and holding his hand.
FLT 64 May 22nd - Auxiliarists & active duty from Station Monterey played host to Mrs.
Hiserman’s 5th grade class as they toured Station Monterey.
FLT 64, 67, & 6-10- May 23rd and 24th - assisted with three patrol boats and shore radio
mobiles for the Ke Kai O’Uhane canoe club’s outrigger races.
FLT 64, 67 & 6-10 May 25th – Members from Division 6 attended the Memorial Day Wreath
throwing ceremony at the CG Pier in Monterey. This ceremony is hosted by the Fleet Reserve
Assoc. with support from the Navy League. TV station KION filmed the activities and these
were televised on the evening news.
FLT 64 May 26th – Auxiliarist & active duty from Station Monterey conducted a Water Safety
class at Robert Down Elementary School.
FLT 6-10 MT AUXPAT class was completed. Testing was conducted on May 6th. All
student passed.
PATROLS – All Division 6 facilities continue each month to do on the water patrols
throughout the Monterey Gold Coast. Periodically, members patrol with the Silver Charm
crew in the SF Bay.
PPE – All Flotillas are conducting regular PPE inspections. FLT 6-10 has completed their
inspection.
PROJECTS
 Station Monterey Project Status with Auxiliarist Tim Meroney of FLT 64 and MKCS Seth
Eury – see Agency Interactions.
 Flotilla 67 will be sponsor of the Santa Cruz OPTREX for our Division on September 12th &
13th 2015.
 MT - Flotillas 67 &6-10 will be offering AUXSEA and AUXCOM – date TBD.
 MT – Flotilla 6-10 offering First Aid and CPR on June 27th .
 PE - Flotillas 67 & 6-10 beginning in September will be offering BS&S, SS&S and Navigation
classes.
AGENCY INTERACTIONS
 Station Monterey Project – Auxiliarist Tim Meroney of FLT 64 and MKCS Seth Eury are to
begin working on the Station’s project list and those that are interested will be signing up to aid
the station under Meroney’s direction. They have worked through the project list and
categorized those that require contactor support versus projects that any Auxiliarist can do.
 Flotilla 67- made arrangements for Harbor Master Latisha Marshall to speak at the June 16 th
meeting.













Flotilla 67 - FC Scott Galloway initiated the issuance of proclamations for NSBW by the City
of Santa Cruz and County of Santa Cruz. The City proclamation, signed by the Santa Cruz
Mayor, Don Lane, was presented at the City Council meeting to a delegation of Flotilla 67 and
6-10 members.
.For NSBW on May 16th the 29’ RBS crew worked with Flotillas 67 & 6-10 at the dock area
with their boat and engaged in conversations with the public.
DIVISION GOALS
Retain current members and recruit new members.
Conduct multiple PA events to present the Auxiliary to the public. Goal – each quarter.
Continue to offer training to members as requested.
Maintain operational readiness.
Add new Operational Facilities.
Coordinate emergency services throughout Division 6
Enhance Flotilla 67’s PA activities
Increase interaction, communication, shared events, and training between Flotillas.
Goal will be reviewed for RBS monthly.
Continue the excellent rapport with CG Station Monterey, USCG Cutter Hawksbill, the local
harbors and other local agencies.
