Joining the Gulf family
Karan Retail is one of Gulf’s on-going success stories. The relationship with
Gulf commenced in 2012, when three key sites rebranded Gulf:
• Crawley Service Station – a former Texaco dealer site, very close to Gatwick Airport.
• Thorney Toll – former Jet dealer site on the A47 westbound, between Wisbech and Peterborough.
• New Toll Service Station – a former Jet dealer site on the A47 eastbound, between Peterborough and Wisbech.
Under the Gulf brand and supported by Gulf’s experienced Retail team, these
three Karan Retail sites bucked industry trends by each demonstrating exponential growth.
In the wake of the success of the first three conversions, two more sites
joined the Gulf family in the past year:
• Breckland Service Station – Weeting, Brandon, Suffolk.
• Meredith Service Station – a former BP site on the Norwich Road, Ipswich.

The tactics are simple but effective: all forecourts are tidy with
well maintained facilities. Each site is bright and attractive,
(achieved with the Gulf branded fascia and Gulf pumps)and the shop is fully refitted and kept fully stocked at competitive prices. Friendly, attentive personnel are employed and opening times are
driven by the customer, which is often 24 hours.
Meticulous application of these principles at all sites has provided
astounding results, with volumes climbing dramatically and shop
sales soaring. As success breeds success, these achievements
are mirrored across all of the Karan Retail sites.
The story doesn’t end here. Karan Retail is now keen to enjoy the
business benefits of partnering with Gulf at more sites, with more
prospective Gulf conversions in consideration.
As much as Karan Retail is relatively
new off the block, Gulf is steeped in
history. However our two brands have a
meeting of the minds, and are running
