They had simply accepted the friend request”. I said I was not aware and that like them I was alarmed by this. I did some research which led me to another schools website page and found the following article which has some timely information for our community. I encourage all parents to follow the advice here and to have a conversation with their children about the hazards of accepting friend requests from people they don’t know. Type in to your browser or follow this link http://www.ipc.nsw.gov.au/privacy/ipc_resources/ privacy_awareness_week_2014.html to the NSW Government website for more information. Regardless of your child's age, the world may already know a lot more about them than you suspect. The Information and Privacy Commission NSW has created a lot of practical information for parents and children, to support 2014 Privacy Awareness Week. It includes: security tips for parents and teens resources to help prevent identity theft information on cyberbullying guides to protecting your digital reputation information about mobile apps and the data they may collect. You can also find a parent's guide to social media – including Kik Messenger, Instagram, Vine and Facebook - in the School A to Z technology glossary. A Hard Day’s Night at the Roxy All students were given an order form for the Beatles T-shirt which will be part of the costume for our upcoming school musical. The cost of the shirt is $5 and all students will require one as part of their costume. Money can be paid at the front office or sent in an envelope to the class teacher. Rehearsals for the performance have continued to improve and it is shaping up to be quite a show. We look forward to staging it at the Roxy and hope to see you there for one of the performances.
