Other Avenues Food Co-op Celebrates
32 kW Solar Array with Ribbon Cutting Event;
Senator Mark Leno, Supervisor Katy Tang and Senior Advisor to the
Mayor Roger Kim to Speak at Event
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The Other Avenues Food Cooperative will unveil its new 32 kW rooftop
solar array with a ribbon cutting ceremony in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood
Saturday April 11th. The solar panels were financed through a crowdfunding campaign that
raised over $50,000 led by local nonprofit organization, RE-volv. The solar panels were installed
by volunteers recruited and trained by SunWork, a nonprofit organization based in Milpitas.
California State Senator Mark Leno, District 4 Supervisor Katy Tang, and Roger Kim, Senior
Advisor on Environmental Policy to Mayor Lee, will speak at the event to celebrate this exciting
partnership between three Bay Area organizations to bring more solar to San Francisco’s Outer
Sunset neighborhood. RE-volv’s innovative solar finance model uses the lease payments from
each project to finance additional solar projects, creating a first of its kind revolving fund for
community-based solar projects called the Solar Seed Fund. The Other Avenues project is REvolv’s largest to date. Opportunities for photos and interviews will be made available.
