Position Description – Development Manager About The Solar Foundation The Solar Foundation (TSF) is the leading provider of high-quality economic impact analyses for the solar industry, a trusted partner for technical assistance spurring public sector implementation, and a champion of solar in schools. An independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1977, TSF’s mission is to increase understanding of solar energy through strategic research that educates the public and transforms markets. Job Description We are seeking a full-time Development Manager to expand The Solar Foundation’s support base and engage donors with our programs and services. In addition, this position will include an emphasis on identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospects and engaging with The Solar Foundation’s board and supporting board development. Key Responsibilities Execute The Solar Foundation’s annual fundraising plan Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations Manage implementation of donor tracking platform and coordinate with staff responsible for data management Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors Manage special events and oversee volunteer host committee Develop and track project and grant proposals for corporate, government, and foundation funding opportunities Ensure proper reporting for all funding contracts Provide communications support Qualifications Candidates for this position will possess: An undergraduate degree in business, marketing, nonprofit management, or other related field 3-5 years of experience in development with a proven fundraising track record Experience developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members and donors Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Ability to travel as needed Strong organizational, managerial, and communication skills Familiarity with customer/donor relationship management software In addition, ideal candidates will possess: A demonstrated passion for solar or renewable energy An ability to adapt to shifting priorities Compensation Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s previous experience and credentials.
