Position: Solar Finance Consultant, Summer Position with Stipend

Description of Organization:
Founded in 2011, RE-volv is a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco that
finances community-based solar energy projects with a revolving fund raised through
crowdfunding. RE-volv raises awareness about solar energy through its community-based
solar projects and outreach programs across the U.S. More information about RE-volv is

Description of Project:
RE-volv is looking for someone with business planning and financial analysis skills to
build a financial model that will calculate the growth potential of our revolving solar loan
fund given various inputs. The inputs include funding sources of different types, interest
rates, size and number of solar projects, increased staff, and more. This project will
require the consultant to create a growth trajectory that simulates a high growth, a middle
growth, and a low growth scenario. RE-volv is looking to determine how different
influxes of cash at different points along the revolving fund’s growth trajectory would
influence the growth of the fund over longer periods of time. This model will help REvolv chart a course to becoming a self-sustaining nonprofit organization based on earned
revenues from the revolving fund.
Work can be done remotely or in our SOMA office. RE-volv is looking for someone who
can help us develop this model in the time frame listed.
Responsibilities:
 Conduct a financial analysis of the RE-volv Solar Seed Fund
 Model scenarios for fund to reach self-replication along various time scales
 Model scenarios for RE-volv to be a self-sustaining nonprofit
 Recommend strategy for scaling the model
Qualifications:
 Experience with financial modeling
 Experience with business plan development
 Interest in solar financing
Stipend
RE-volv is offering a stipend of $2,000. We are also looking to leverage additional
institutional funds that students can tap through their university.
