Proven Solutions in Action The combined power of the hComms components helps you easily plan, execute and sustain your network. Consider two typical examples below.
Rapid
Deployment
System
Military and government organizations around
the world count on Harris to connect warfighters
up and down the echelon. Harris’ ability to
deliver that network—anytime and anywhere—is
the result of industry-leading tactical equipment,
as well as innovative software. Harris hComms
software integrates network access and
management through streamlined interfaces to
dynamically support network, battlefield and
edge needs. For the reliability, flexibility and
mobility to manage your networks with ease,
security and confidence, no one delivers the
network like Harris.
POWERFUL MISSION PLANNING AND
COMMAND & CONTROL
Collectively known as Harris hComms™ Battle and
Communications Network Management Software, these
solutions provide powerful mission planning as well as
command and control capabilities. They expedite how
you plan, execute and sustain networks for the life of
the mission, while maximizing the value of your network
communications equipment in forward, dismounted,
vehicular, airborne and HQ units. And, by providing a single
point of entry to the network, they eliminate the timeconsuming task of manually moving data from one system
to another as well as training on multiple systems.

Because hComms is modular in nature, with wide platform
support (including Web, PC, and Android™), it offers flexible
and customizable deployment options. What’s more,
hComms is designed to interoperate with your existing
Harris and non-Harris equipment and systems.
Solution
Supported by Harris hComms integrated
communications system software, the
battalion TOC can plan for, execute
and sustain a rapid deployment rescue
mission—with all operations viewed and
managed through a single user interface.
1 Prior to the convoy operation,
hC2 Command is used to collaboratively plan and distribute the route.
hManager Plan and hManager Spectrum
are used to set up voice and data
networks for all operational elements,
including a quick response force (QRF).
2 When the convoy enters an area of poor
communication, they lose contact with
the TOC. Convoy leaders, though,
can communicate with each other
via hC2 Patrol.
3 Commanders at the TOC quickly document a flight plan for a communications
relay UAV to re-establish connectivity
between leaders in the field and commanders at HQ.
4 hC2 Command automatically syncs
SA status through the new relay.
Solution
A combination of Harris hardware and
software deliver a fully integrated tactical
Internet to the mission area, enabling realtime information sharing as well as faster
and fully informed decision making.
5 HQ releases a quick reaction force,
which coordinates with the trapped
ground forces via hC2 Patrol.
Throughout the operation, SA and
Comms can be followed at the
TOC using hC2 Command.
1 The brigade coordinates operational
planning using hC2 Node Center and
hC2 Command, and creates its own
communications infrastructure using
hManager Plan and hManager Spectrum
to support voice, messaging, video,
BMS, and other applications.
With an integrated communications
network supported by Harris software
solutions, the attackers can be driven off
through a coordinated effort, and the
convoy can safely return to base.
2 Troops deploy the system in the region
and begin operations, coordinating with
BMS and monitoring communications
using hManager Monitor.
3 When enemy elements are spotted
during a patrol, information is added
to the common operational picture
using hC2 Patrol—HQ is made aware
in real time, thanks to the power of the
network.
4 Using hC2 Command, HQ issues orders
to commanders in the field to interdict
and detain.
From HQ command to the tactical edge, all
elements interact with the network through
streamlined interfaces, submitting and
accessing real-time information that helps
assure mission success.
