Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). It currently has 13 campuses in
different parts of California.
 Federal financial aid is available to those that qualify.
 SJVC is family owned and offers small classes in programs that are relevant to career
development and in high demand in the workforce. Many of their programs are career focused.
 The college’s mission statement is to prepare graduates “for professional success in the
business, medical and technical career fields”. (taken from SJVC website)
 The Pharmacy Technology program at SJVC prepares students to work under direct supervision
of a registered Pharmacist.
o On the job, pharmacy technicians can expect to: 1) process prescriptions, 2) prepare I.V.s,
compound creams, ointments and medication, 3) operate pharmacy software, and 4)
maintain inventory control.
o Students learn pharmacology, computer data entry, prescription processing, pharmacy
law, and laboratory applications.
o By earning a degree students are qualified to become a licensed Pharmacy Technician.
This makes them eligible to also earn desirable certifications like becoming a CPHt
(Certified Pharmacy Technician).
o This program is available at 8 locations, including the Ontario Campus in the Inland
Empire. It is a good option for those students wanting a local program that is less than 2
years long, offers specialized training into a career, and earns you a degree.
