THE RMU PROOF OF VALUE Parents and students need to know they are reaping a return on their investment in a college education. RMU is proud of its traditional measures of success, including strong retention and graduation rates, healthy starting salaries and consistent placement rates at 92% or more. “GREAT JOBS, GREAT LIVES” TM Over the past 30 years, the Gallup Organization has identified ways to measure employee engagement and workplace performance. Corporations across America now use WORKPLACE ENGAGEMENT as a way to identify and reward top performers, and these engaged employees are more involved, enthusiastic and loyal. But we want to find more meaningful, lasting measures of success. We want to guarantee our students, not only that all–important first job, but a career and lifetime of success. THE RMU ADVANTAGE A great career is part of the story, but Gallup also measures WELL–BEING—how a person feels about and experiences life. When people feel a sense of purpose and have social, community, physical and financial well–being, they enjoy richer, more productive and rewarding lives, personally and professionally. For 90 years—and for students of all kinds—RMU emphasizes both the PERSONAL and PROFESSIONAL aspects of your educational experience. We’ve adopted the GPI as a more meaningful measure of how well we are changing lives and delivering lifelong value to our students and alumni. MORE RMU ALUMNI DO BETTER RMU graduates are outperforming college graduates nationally, as well as those from our set of overlap schools (the top 20 schools that RMU applicants are also considering). According to the RMU Gallup Alumni Survey, RMU alums are more likely to be employed full–time, to be engaged at work and to be thriving in all areas of well–being. RMU ALUMNI ARE MORE ENGAGED AT WORK MORE RMU ALUMNI ARE EMPLOYED FULL–TIME 77% RMU 44% 39% OVERLAP SCHOOLS RMU 38% 63% NATIONALLY NATIONALLY Equal proportions of male and female RMU graduates since 1970 are employed full–time. Nationally, however, 71% of male college graduates are employed full–time vs. only 56% of women. Among all American workers, only 30% are engaged in their jobs. But 44% of RMU alumni are engaged at work, higher than the national average or our overlap schools. Universities that deliver these key experiences— a combination of supportive relationships with professors and mentors plus experiential learning outside the classroom— are more likely to produce graduates with great careers and great lives. SUPPORT My professors at RMU cared about me as a person. I had at least one professor at RMU who made me excited about learning. While attending RMU, I had a mentor who encouraged me to pursue my goals and dreams. RMU IS DOING EVEN BETTER FOR OUR STUDENTS TODAY With the addition of the Student Engagement Transcript (SET), and the university’s ongoing commitment to enhancing mentorship initiatives and faculty–student interactions, we are seeing clear evidence that today’s students are getting even more of these powerful experiences that will lead to a lifetime of rewards. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING While at RMU, I worked on a project that took a semester or longer to complete. While attending RMU, I had an internship or job that allowed me to apply what I was learning in the classroom. I was extremely active in extracurricular activities and organizations while at RMU.
