A big Shout out to the Battle of the Books team and their
outstanding performance at the Final tournament on April
23-24. Grace Henderson, Brooke Hewitt, Carissa Kochan,
Nikole Schlevensky, Samantha Tolar, Min Han, and Zoree
Jones showed off their knowledge of 19 different books and
finished in 11th place out of 20 overall teams and 3rd overall
amongst Prince William County Schools! Way to go team!

Helping Families in Any Language
In order to support families who speak all
languages other than English, PWCS will soon
have available many important documents in
several languages. The school division is also
working on an enhanced Translation Services
webpage that will allow families to complete a questionnaire and
request assistance in their own language. At every school there
will be a visible poster that will allow families to select a
language when they are in need of assistance in their language.
Schools will also have interpretation services available. Currently,
the school division website has an enhanced Google Translate
feature that provides instant translation assistance in dozens of
languages. Note that computer generated translations has its
limitations, but this feature moves us forward in serving the needs
of our students in an increasingly diverse community. Please feel
free to contact the school if you are in need of assistance in
another language.
PTO News
The current RRMS PTSO is seeking families interested in serving on next year's
board. We have several Board Positions available for the upcoming school year:
President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Member-at-Large. Please feel
free to contact me at [email protected] if you have questions about any of these
positions. The RRMS PTSO relies on parent volunteers to run our organization
here at Ronald Reagan Middle School. The PTSO provides support to the staff
and organizes enjoyable events for our wonderful kids.

It isn’t too late to start attending the Parents as Educational Partners (PEP) Classes sponsored by Battlefield
HS and Ronald Reagan MS.
These classes are FREE to parents of our ESOL students and allow parents an opportunity to:

Tdap Immunization Requirement
All rising Sixth graders MUST have a Tdap booster shot before starting middle
school on August 31, 2015! Please forward your child’s updated immunization record
to the school nurse. For any questions contact your school nurse.
Student Medication
All of your student’s unused mediation must be picked up from the school nurse
before the last day of school. Please make arrangements to do so with the school
nurse as soon as possible. If unused medication is not picked up by the last day of
school, it will be disposed of by school personnel.
Keep Kids Safe for Summer
Kids like to dive into summer to relax, unwind, and have fun. Warm weather brings
more opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Here are some ways to stay safe while
enjoying swimming, boating, hiking, biking, and more. Check out more tips at Make

Be safe at home, work, and play
Most childhood injuries can be prevented. Injuries are the leading cause of death in
children aged 19 and younger.
* Play it safe on the playground. Each year in the United States, emergency
departments treat more than 200,000 children aged 14 and younger for
playground-related injuries.
* Learn what to do if a concussion occurs. A concussion is a type of traumatic
brain Injury caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that can change the
way your brain normally works.
* Stay smart around the house by following tips on fire prevention,
microwave use, and living with pets.
* Prevent injuries. Protect the ones you love.
* Help working teens learn about safety and health on the job.

Reactions to food-borne allergies can be life threatening. Our school is working hard to minimize the risk. As needed, special
cafeteria areas may be reserved for the exclusive use of those whose meals are free of specific allergy inducing products. If appropriate, you will receive a notice alerting you to specific food allergy concerns of a student in your child’s class; it will specify products that should not be brought into the classroom—please follow it carefully. PWCS complies with a new Virginia law requiring
all schools to have epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPens) and staff trained to administer the life-saving drug to students in emergencies. This is a last resort for unforeseen reactions. Students with known food allergies should continue to have their own
EpiPens, along with complete emergency health plans on file with the school nurse.

Les allergies alimentaires peuvent constituer un véritable danger. Notre école s'efforce de réduire les risques. En cas de besoin, des espaces spécifiques de la cafétéria peuvent être réservés à l'utilisation exclusive des élèves dont les repas doivent
