The Rossmoor Republican Seniors for a Government of Principle above Politics March 2015 Desalinization Expert Is Dinner Speaker Our March 17 dinner speaker is Thomas E. Lindemuth, a leading expert on desalinization as a possible solution to the worldwide need for clean drinking water. In 1968, Lindemuth joined Aqua-Chem, then the world's foremost desalinization manufacturer. At Aqua-Chem, he developed highly efficient separation processes to handle waste from food processing, pulp and paper manufacture, and nuclear installations. Lindemuth moved from Aqua-Chem to AMF Beard in Shreveport, and in 1974 joined Bechtel Research and Engineering in San Francisco. One of the free world's largest completely planned cities, Jubail is located where there is essentially no natural fresh water. Lindemuth earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He has an extensive background of teaching assignments and has authored an impressive list of publications. Now retired after 50 years as an engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, and educator, he continues to work on his interest in desalinization technology and implementation. Lindemuth is convinced the time is coming when desalinization can start to fill the needs for more pure water in North America. Come to the March 17 dinner event and hear from desalinization pioneer Thomas Lindemuth. Get Your Newsletter Sooner! Thank You For Your Support by President Pamela Parsons Raffle ticket sales support Republican candidates and patriotic charities. In 2014 we contributed to Catharine Baker (who won election to the State Assembly!) and two patriotic charities: Disabled American Veterans and Fisher House. At our November dinner meeting we were able to present checks for $1250 each to the two charities. Reproduced below is the appreciation letter we received from Fisher House. Keep buying those raffle tickets----it's for a great cause! March Movie is: By Dawn’s early Light Join us Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m. in Peacock Hall to see By Dawn's Early Light. This 2000 movie starring Richard Crenna, David Carradine, and Chris Olivera is a heart warming story of patriotism and the bonding of a boy and his grandfather. When Mike Lewis leaves Los Angeles to stay with his grandfather in Colorado for the summer, he hates the old man's cowboy ways. He disrupts and disrespects the small town Independence Day celebration and his grandfather. When Mike demands to go home, the old man agrees and saddles up a couple of horses for a six week trip toward California, home, the Pacific, and redemption. This TV family movie runs 100 minutes and will be shown with language captions. It was originally scheduled for February 18 but was cancelled due to a technical problem. PAGE 2 No Republican in Special Election for State Senate Board of Directors Elected Officers Pamela Parsons, President 831-1808 Peggy Fryer, Vice President 947-5878 Our Club hosted Mark Meuser and was prepared to support him in the special election for California State Senate District 7. But Mark dropped out of the race at the last moment before filing his candidacy. Republican Michaela Hertle replaced Mark. Then she too dropped out of the race, is not campaigning, and has endorsed a Democrat! But, because she met the filing deadline, her name remains on the ballot. The Contra Costa County Republican Central Committee has determined not to endorse any candidate in this race. Your Board of Directors concurs, and makes no recommendation in the special election. Publications Wanted If you subscribe to conservative publications, please donate them once you have read them rather than throw them away. Examples are National Review, Weekly Standard, Commentary, Imprimis, etc. We invite you to place your used publications in the box provided at the reception table at the monthly dinner events.
