ROUNDHOUSE ANNOUNCE NEW HEAD OF MUSIC
Roundhouse has today (Wednesday 6 May) announced the appointment of Jane Beese as
the new head of music for the iconic London venue and charity.
The Roundhouse is known as one of the best venues in London to see live music and
performing arts but each year also works with over 3,000 young creatives offering
opportunities in music, performing arts and media.
Jane will lead the Roundhouse’s internationally renowned music programme and build on its
reputation as one of London’s foremost cultural venues. As well as this the role will be vital in
developing the Roundhouse’s own music programme, including opportunities for 11-25 year
olds.
Jane brings a wealth of experience to the role from her 15 years at Southbank Centre. As
head of contemporary music Jane has overseen the Contemporary Music and Gigs
programme, created the music programmes around festivals such as Alchemy, Ether, Africa
Utopia, WOW and WWW. Jane has been the lead programmer on Meltdown Festival since
2010, working with curators including David Bowie, Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Jarvis Cocker
and James Lavelle. Prior to the Southbank Centre, Jane worked at booking agencies
including 13 Artists, International Talent Booking and Asgard.
Nicola Thorold, executive producer of the Roundhouse, said; “We’re thrilled to have Jane
join us at the Roundhouse. The experience she brings from the Southbank Centre is second
to none. We look forward to welcoming Jane at such an exciting time in Roundhouse's
history."
Jane Beese said "I'm delighted to accept the role of head of music at such a historic, iconic
and important arts space. I'm especially looking forward to working with the amazing team at
the Roundhouse and to engaging with the young creatives programme."
Jane will take up the post in early September after completing David Byrne's Meltdown at
Southbank Centre.
