Welcome to our 2015 Spirituality Program
Roy’s Retreat was established in 2006 to promote contemplative practice in the Christian mystical
and prophetic tradition. The Christian mystics teach us that the language of God is silence. Our
Retreat programs offer pathways into this language of God. The contemplative tradition is largely
unknown to Western Christianity: we invite you to discover this rich tradition and come to the quiet
and meet your God. Our Retreats are open to anyone who is a genuine spiritual seeker. We especially
encourage participation from people who are not currently connected with a faith community, or
who ceased connecting with a faith community, but who are genuinely seeking a spiritual dimension
in their lives.
Roy’s Retreat is a non-denominational Incorporated Association and receives no funding or financial
support. Retreats are offered ‘at cost’ as a way of making the spiritual quest accessible to all who
seek. Our Retreat Team is made up of people from a range of denominations.
We hope you consider participating in one or more of our programs during 2015.

‘praying with the mystics’ one day seasonal retreats
These one day Retreats are available each season: Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer in 2015.
Each day will be based on the season in which it falls and will be founded on the spirituality of the
Christian Mystics. Each one day Retreat will include some input on the mystics, extended periods of
silence for personal reflection and times of communal silent prayer. Within the one day Retreat you
will experience Lectio Divina, Christian Meditation and Ignatian contemplation. These Retreats are
silent days once we have done the initial introductions. Each Retreat day will provide an opportunity
to listen to God’s call and to respond to God’s great desire to be in ever deepening relationship with
us. These Retreats provide an opportunity to ‘tune out’ from normal life and ‘tune in’ to God. In 2015
we are offering our Praying with the Mystics Retreats in four locations each season. The days begin
at 9.30am and conclude at 4pm. Participants bring their own lunch. Morning and afternoon tea is
provided. The cost of the days is $40 or $25 for those unwaged.

beach retreats ‘In the footsteps of the mystics’
Our Retreat house at Middleton is within a few minutes walk from the stunning Middleton beach.
Each retreatant will have their own comfortable private bedroom for the Retreat. All meals are
provided. An opportunity to meet with a Spiritual Director is available during the Retreat. The Beach
Retreats include input on the Christian Mystics, times of communal silent contemplative prayer, long
periods of time for personal prayer and reflection and time for walks on the beach. The total costs for
the two day Beach Retreats is $185.

Prophet School
Each year since 2009 Roy’s Retreat has offered an annual ‘Prophet School’. In 2015 our Prophet
School will have three elements:
(i) A public seminar highlighting one particular area of Prophetic living. In 2015 the focus will be on
the ‘Loves Makes a Way’ actions.
(ii) Five half day workshops where participants are introduced to the life and teachings of five of
the great modern Christian Prophets (Martin Luther King, Dorothy Day, Dom Helder Camara, Oscar
Romero and John Dear.
(iii) A weekend Retreat exploring the theme ‘Jesus the Prophet’.
Dates are still to be determined, but anyone who is interested in knowing more about the 2015
Prophet School is encouraged to express your interest with us as soon as possible. Further information
will be on our website as soon as dates are set.
