MAPPING Suite XPS Software System Enable Enterprise-wide Business Communications MAPPING Suite XPS is a complete business communication system that encompasses document design, document production, print management, multi-channel delivery and archival/retrieval. Currently used by more than 2,000 companies, it integrates these document workflow functions end to end to enable an easy transition to the demands of today’s very competitive communications environment. A rapid-ROI solution, MAPPING Suite XPS can be implemented easily, and users can be productive quickly thanks to a short learning curve. MAPPING Suite XPS has been re-architected using XML Paper Specification (XPS), a cutting-edge document standard developed by Microsoft. This approach results in a further extension of its already substantial capabilities to handle virtually any input datastream, server platform, printer format or output channel. In addition, MAPPING Suite XPS has been designed with your current operating environment in mind—each company’s infrastructure is different, so a document system must adapt in order to deliver ease of implementation and ongoing effectiveness. HIGHLIGHTS • Provides an integrated, scalable, userfriendly enterprise output management solution suitable for any-size business • Includes professional, advanced document composition • Supports virtually any data input and delivery output requirement (print, Adobe® PDF, email, web, archive, fax) • Supplies exceptional versatility based on the unique, high-function XPS architecture • Provides high-performance printing and printer management • Adapts to and leverages your existing business processes and infrastructure • Delivers multiple solutions in one to optimize efficiency and cost effectiveness: server platforms, languages, printer languages and delivery channels MAPPING Suite XPS Software System Professional, advanced document composition Built on unique, high-function XPS architecture At the center of things is document design, the conversion of your data and business rules to effective, formatted communications. High-function design is essential to competitiveness and to customer satisfaction and revenue. MAPPING Suite XPS delivers high function and more. This translates into fully graphical, dynamic design featuring conditional logic, tables, charts, images, barcoding, page layers and multilanguage support. MAPPING Suite XPS also supports complex documents in which areas can be used for dynamic marketing messages. Essential to the function and adaptability of MAPPING Suite XPS is the architectural foundation based on XPS. XPS is a modern, clean-slate, high-function page architecture developed by Microsoft. Because its advanced structure is geared to accommodating the most complex documents, XPS is more than up to the task of moving data to final presentation format and producing documents with consistent, full fidelity, regardless of channel. MAPPING Suite XPS implements a wide range of filters to enable the capture of business data into the format. XPS is a Microsoft standard that has been built into each release since Windows XP, and now a growing universe of printers directly support XPS streams. Also, there is an expanding number of drivers that connect XPS files to various output formats. Finally and most important, MAPPING Suite XPS directly supports the most common output channels and formats. Support for virtually all inputs and outputs MAPPING Suite XPS is architected to adapt to your IT environment. It runs on most common operating system (OS) platforms, including UNIX®, Linux®, Microsoft® Windows®, and IBM® System i®. It takes in virtually any data format for design and processing—a long list that includes XML, text, CSV, PDF, thermal print streams, Microsoft Word®, RTF, XPS and more. Data input can come from many sources in addition to standard flat files. These sources include ERP systems, Oracle® and SQL databases, and Windows applications such as Word and Excel®. Regardless of source and data format, input is converted to one consistent format for processing (XPS). MAPPING Suite XPS then can apply document design functions, either starting from the ground up or by enhancing an existing document format. File-level actions can also be done, including splitting, joining, indexing and sorting incoming data. MAPPING Suite XPS also excels in delivery and presentation. Virtually all delivery channels are supported, including view, print, email, fax, web and SMS text. Supported print formats also run the gamut. They include the standard transactional print formats, such as Advanced Function Presentation™ or AFP™, Adobe® PostScript® and PCL; the industrial and thermal printer formats, such as Zebra and Datamax; and the electronic formats, such as PDF, HTML and XML. XPS also has some significant additional benefits. It supports the easy import, embed or export of Microsoft Office® content such as Word and Excel. It uses an internal function called print tickets to manage how the document is printed. MAPPING Suite XPS enables dynamic changes to print tickets. For example, print selections, such as simplex/duplex, paper source, drawer, orientation and stapling, can be modified easily. It also supports digital signatures, a growing requirement in online communications. High-performance printing and printer management MAPPING Suite XPS does not stop with document design, because print is a key component of the management of your output. With its print manager component—Mapping Output Manager—it can take on an enterprise-wide print management mission. This means management of high volumes of print across multiple servers, print queues and printers. In addition to standard printer and queue management, Mapping Output Manager also adds functions to improve utilization and productivity. • Improve communication effectiveness through use of multiple delivery channels such as web, email and text messaging. • Protect and grow customer revenues by using targeted marketing messaging within your documents. • Reduce cost through efficient, centralized management of your printing. All in all, MAPPING Suite XPS provides a comprehensive, integrated, end-to-end document system that is easily adapted to your unique requirements. How is MAPPING Suite XPS delivered? Large print jobs can be segmented into smaller jobs and run in parallel to multiple printers (load balancing). Smaller print jobs can be grouped together. Support is available for all of the widely used printer types, such as Intelligent Printer Data Stream™ or IPDS™, PCL, PostScript, thermal, impact and RFID. To design and control these functions, MAPPING Suite XPS includes a workflow manager. This graphical user interface allows for conditioning, routing and rules management for both the composition and print processes. MAPPING Suite XPS is packaged in three packs and three options, each addressing particular requirements. Each pack includes the base functionality of composition, document production and viewing, as well as the Mapping print manager, Mapping Output Manager. Each pack is available for use on any production server—System i, UNIX, Linux or Windows. The following packs indicate the supported input, output and enhancement functions: • The Standard Pack provides the base function that includes text, XML and CSV data input along with PCL output. • The Industrial Pack includes all the functions of the Standard Pack plus support for output to thermal and RFID printers. • The Premium Pack includes all the functions of the Standard Pack and Industrial Pack, and it adds functions that include marketing messages, PDF and data split/sort/join. Mapping Output Manager is included with MAPPING Suite XPS. It is also available as a standalone offering. A comprehensive, integrated document system MAPPING Suite XPS covers a lot of ground, functionally. But, what does it mean to your workflow and your bottom line? You can: • Reduce IT costs by moving all or parts of the design process to the business owners. • Reduce the turnaround time for new or revised documents, whether driven by business, compliance or regulatory needs. • Reduce customer service costs with complete, effective documents. For more information In addition to the three packs, you can also select these options: • Communication Option: Electronic output such as HTML, PDF, archive, web, fax and SMS • Database Option: Support for input data from Oracle, IBM DB2®, MySQL® database server and Microsoft SQL Server® • IPDS Option: Support for printing to IPDS printers To learn more about MAPPING Suite XPS, contact your Ricoh production print specialist or visit us at www.infoprint.com/software.
