HISTORY
A Level
History at Scarborough Sixth Form College
History at AS and Advanced Level involves the study of the past of both Europe
and Britain. We cover a variety of key historical events which
encompass both political and social history. History is famously
regarded as the ‘Science of Mankind’. Through the study of
dictators, economic depressions, revolutions war and famine
this course will enable you to grasp the true nature of our
ancestors and to examine and judge the choices they made. The
study of History is immensely stimulating and enjoyable in its
own right, but there is also a big emphasis on the development of transferable
skills, which both universities and employers value highly. Career opportunities
are many and varied, including teaching, librarianship, archive work, law,
management and archaeology and politics!
