Job Title: Senior Clinical Financial Analyst (req. 097640) Employer: The University of Chicago, Department of Pediatrics About the Unit: The Department of Pediatrics encompasses 22 clinical and research Sections, with an operating budget of over $50M per year. The responsibilities under the previous direction of Finance and Post-Award Administration are now under the Associate Chief of Finance and Administration. The Post-Award Administration team is directly responsible for promoting and maintaining across-the-board post-award compliance, and operational efficiency on all financial resources distributed on 400+ FAS accounts including clinical, sponsored and non-sponsored funds. Unit Job Summary: Reporting to the Associate Chief of Finance and Administration (aCFA), performs the day-to-day financial management, reporting, and analysis of clinical revenue and key performance metrics for the Department of Pediatrics. Designs and maintains an effective budget development and budget management process for the Department providing centralized internal control, financial reporting, and analytical expertise in support of the Sections. The Senior Clinical Financial Analyst maintains an effective financial reporting system that provides the Sections and senior administration with a complete set of standardized financial and operational reports on a monthly basis enabling the effective management of the Department's financial resources. With guidance from the aCFA, maintains an effective internal control system for the Department regarding the correct allocation of all clinical revenue and expense by section and by clinical provider. This position will also work in revenue cycle and clinical practice optimization and provides analyses on performance against established benchmarks. Continuously monitors the actual performance against budget for the department and for the Pediatrics enterprise at The University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital. Provides direction, assistance, and backup support for the Department's Finance Office, as needed. May attend meetings with managers, Section Chiefs and/or faculty to present and explain financial trends and variance. Other duties as assigned by the aCFA. Provides analytical and project support. Unit Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, accounting, statistics, economics, or related field required. MBA or advanced degree in finance, healthcare administration, public policy, or a related field preferred. Unit Experience: A minimum of five years of financial analysis experience required. Five years of financial analysis experience in an academic medical center or university within a clinical department, or a physician practice preferred.
