Judge: Steven E. Ochs
Steven E. Ochs, Professor of Art, will judge The
Viewfinder. He joined the faculty of Southern
Arkansas University in Magnolia in 1991. Ochs has
juried more than a dozen exhibitions in Arkansas,
Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama and has
acted as curator for more than twenty exhibitions,
including “Fletcher Thorne-Thomsen Photography
Exhibit” and “In a Child’s Day,” an art exchange
between the children of Xalapa, Mexico, and the
children of Magnolia, Arkansas.
An accomplished artist, he has shown his own work in solo and group
exhibitions across the nation and in Montreal, Quebec. Ochs also has more than
thirty publications and eighteen public art installations to his credit. Two of those
installations are “The Nature of Things” in historic downtown El Dorado and “The
World Map” at Heifer International World Headquarters in Little Rock.
Ochs teaches digital photography, advanced digital photography, ceramics,
advanced art studio, and exhibition techniques, as well as other classes at SAU.
TO ENTER: Submit up to two
framed photographs along with
a completed entry form and the
entry fee for each piece.

JUDGE: Steven E. Ochs, professor of
art, SAU in Magnolia, AR
DEADLINE: Entries must be received in
the SAAC Office by April 29, 2015.
ENTRY/FEE: Limit 2 pieces per person
with an entry fee of $10 each for SAAC
Members and $15 each for Non-Members
(Entry fee is non-refundable.) Make checks
payable to SAAC.
AWARDS: Cash prizes will be awarded
to the Best of Show ($300), First Place
($150), Second Place ($75), Third Place
($50), and Honorable Mention ($20).
ELIGIBILITY: Entries must be original
photographs taken with any type of
camera that are framed and ready for
display in the gallery. Photographers may
use basic corrective editing in the dark
room or digitally but no graphic
manipulations or touch-ups allowed.
Photographs must have been taken in the
last three years and not previously shown
at SAAC. No work done under supervision
or in a classroom environment will be
accepted. Each piece must be framed
appropriately with a sufficient hanging
method. The judge and show chairperson
have final authority to define what
constitutes an acceptable entry.

DELIVERY/PICK-UP:
Works must be
delivered to SAAC by April 29 and picked up
on June 2. Artists are responsible for the
delivery and pickup of all works. Shipped
pieces must include a return shipping label
or instructions when received. Work not
picked up after 30 days will become the
property of SAAC.
EXHIBITION: All accepted works will be on
exhibit in SAAC's Galleries May 4-June 1,
2015. An Artist Reception will be held May
16, 6-8pm with an awards presentation at
6:30pm. All work must remain for the
duration of the exhibit.
SALES:
Sales are encouraged.
A
commission of 35% will be charged on all
sales resulting from the exhibition. Works
NOT FOR SALE must be marked NFS.
LIABILITY: Any work submitted to SAAC for
exhibition may be reproduced for promotional
purposes. The receipt of an entry in the
competition will constitute agreement by the
artist with all conditions set forth in the
prospectus.
