529 Local Nonprofits Announced for May 5th BIG Day of Giving
Number of Organizations Representing 4-County Region up from 394 in 2014
Sacramento, Calif., (4/20/2015) –The official list of 529 local nonprofits participating in the BIG Day of
Giving on May 5th is now available at www.bigdayofgiving.org/#leaderboard . Donors who want to plan
their giving during the 24-hour online giving challenge can visit the leaderboard to learn more about the
organizations they will support on May 5th– and get inspired to give. Donations can be made by credit
card between midnight and 11:59 pm on the 5th at www.bigdayofgiving.org - and all gifts will get a
boost from the BIG Day of Giving Incentive Pool and may help nonprofits to win additional prize dollars.
According to Jeannie Howell, Community Impact Officer for the Foundation, “Being part of the BIG Day
of Giving is much more than signing a commitment form for these nonprofits, and we are thrilled to be
able to share the 2015 lineup with the community today.” Each of the organizations was
required/invited to create a GivingEdge profile and attend a variety of trainings on traditional and social
media, board development and donor engagement.
“As we learned on BIG Day of Giving 2014, nearly one-third of donors reported researching a nonprofit
prior to making donations, and that information paid off in a BIG way with over 30% of the $3 million in
donations coming from new donors,” said the Foundation’s Chief Giving Officer, Priscilla Enriquez. The
profiles at www.bigdayofgiving.org are packed with comprehensive information about programs,
governance and financials, allowing donors to plan their gifts for May 5th with a new level of confidence.
The organizations taking part in the BIG Day on May 5th represent the breadth of the region’s nonprofit
sector – from vital human services and education, to community improvement and the arts.
Participating organizations that provide services to the region are located throughout Sacramento,
Placer, Yolo and El Dorado counties.
BIG Day of Giving 2015 is made possible by GiveLocalNow and the Sacramento Region Community
Foundation in collaboration with Placer Community Foundation and Yolo Community Foundation – as
well as the generosity of countless BIG Day of Giving Incentive, Outreach and Media Partners. A
comprehensive list of BIG Day partners and events around the region can be found at
www.bigdayofgiving.org.
