Program
The 2015 Update in General Practice continuing education program will mark
the 28th annual AEGD sponsored program. This year’s program will offer a
concise and systematic synopsis of the current trends in general dentistry based
on evidence from clinical practice and recent research. This program has been
specifically designed for the dental professional who desires a comprehensive
update of current technologies, techniques to diagnose and manage various clinical
problems. The latest information on identifying and managing the human papilloma
virus and related lesions will be presented. A good portion of the program will be
directed towards identifying and managing current medical conditions impacting
the dental treatment provided by the general practitioner. The current guidelines
on diagnosing Temporomandibular Disorders and current recommended concepts
of treating chronic pain patients will be presented. The continuing high population
of edentulous patients will be addressed through presentations on diagnosis,
treatment planning and treatment of edentulous patient with implant supported
restorations. There will be a presentation to learn what drug seeking patients are
currently seeking and how to manage these patients.
An outstanding line-up of faculty from various dental specialty areas and with
extensive knowledge and training will deliver presentations in these areas.
Presentations will focus on clinical treatment planning, patient management,
treatment concepts and techniques. The course will take place over 2 days and
provide up to 15 hours of continuing education credit and should meet the NC
License renewal CE requirements. Presentations are in lecture format with a
15-minute discussion period following each presentation, which will allow you to ask
questions and personalize information gained from each topic.

The program will be held at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing
Education. Registration will begin at 7:30am. The program will be held from
8:00am – 5:45pm. The Friday Center is located on Friday Center Drive just off
Highway 54 on the east side of Chapel Hill. A continental breakfast and buffet
lunch will be provided with your paid registration.
