STEWARDSHIP
“The community of believers was of one heart and
mind and no one claimed that any of his
possessions was his own.” - Acts 4:32
All that we are and all that we have is a gift from
God! Think of your family, your friends, your talents
and abilities – these are all gifts from God. We aren’t
really owners of anything, we are merely “stewards”
of the gifts God has blessed us with.

Annual Catholic Appeal
Pledge Drive Begins
The Annual Catholic Appeal will
be held in all parishes throughout
the St. Louis Archdiocese on the weekends of April
18 & 19, April 25 & 26 and May 2 & 3. This is the
largest and most visible effort of Catholics in our
area to reach out to those in need and to support
Catholic education.
Our parish goal this year is $241,310 with a
Challenge Goal of $297,551. It will take the support
of everyone to make this happen. You can make
your pledge or donation, starting next weekend, by
filling out your card that will be in the Gathering Area
after all Masses.
If you have supported this very important cause in
the past—thank you and please continue to do so! If
you’ve never been part of the Appeal, please
prayerfully consider participating this year to make a
difference in so many people’s lives. If you would be
interested in volunteering a small amount of time to
help the committee conduct the ACA, please contact
Dawn Burger, Parish Chairperson, at 636-256-2575.
WELCOME NEW
PARISHIONERS
We invite ALL NEW members of
St. Clare to join the Welcome
Committee for a light breakfast in the Cafeteria on
Sunday, April 19, following the 10:00am Mass. You
will have the opportunity to meet other parishioners
and get information on what's happening in your
new parish.

DYNAMIC CATHOLIC, ALIVE!
Seven Pillars of Catholic Spirituality Matthew Kelly
has identified Seven Pillars of Catholic Spirituality:
Confession, Contemplation, Mass, Scripture,
Fasting, Spiritual Reading, and the Rosary. How
many of these are pillars in your life? Consider
renewing your efforts to make continuous spiritual
improvement through small, incremental changes in
your life. Matthew Kelly reminds us that great things
must be sought with intentionality. Are you a

BUILDING A CULTURE OF VOCATIONS
Family life can build values integral to a strong
vocation — whether to priesthood, religious life or
marriage. Teaching your children to value
commitment, service and prayer will help them make
strong vocation decisions as adults and live out
those vocations with success and fulfillment.

PA R I S H N E W S
We are seeking four individuals to become members of the
St. Clare Parish Council. You may self-nominate or nominate
another parishioner. If you or someone you know would be willing
to donate time and talents to our St. Clare Community, please
consider becoming a member of the St. Clare Parish Council. We
will be seeking nominations for four new members in April - from
the 5th through May 3rd.
There are multiple methods to submit nominations and everyone in
the Parish is welcome to participate - nominations can be submitted via
the following methods:
 Nomination forms and submission box located in the back of Church throughout the nomination period.
 Email nominations can be submitted to Msgr. Callahan - [email protected].
Please remember to include name, address, and telephone number of the individual(s) being
nominated and put “Parish Council Nomination” in the subject line of the email.
 Contacting a Parish Council Member:
President: Ken Wening, [email protected], 636.227.7672
Secretary: Julie Conrey, [email protected], 636.527.8183
Once nominated, each nominee will be contacted to confirm their acceptance to be entered into a general
drawing. The four new members will be selected and announced at the 10:00am Mass on May 10, 2015.
The following provides a brief overview of who we are, what we do, and what is required.
What is a Parish Council:
Parish Council is a group of ten-twelve individuals selected from the St. Clare membership at large that
function as an advisory body to the pastor of a Parish. Parish Council promotes the mission of the Church
by assisting with guidance on direction of how the Parish develops and responds to the Sacramental,
educational and physical life of its members. The primary task is to be constructive and directive in the
spiritual and faith-development of the Parish. They assist with consultation on major tasks and
undertakings of the Parish with focus on various events to promote both Parish life and unity.
Commitment:
The total commitment for Parish Council is a three year term. The commitment is the simple part because
it only requires your time and talents. The time commitment for Parish Council varies depending on the
issues and topics that one participates in throughout the year. The yearly commitment is on average 10
meetings per year that run approximately one to one and a half hours long. Involvement in the various
activities throughout the year could require an additional 20 – 30 hours throughout the year.
History:
The concept of a Parish Council was introduced into Parish life shortly after the Second Vatican Council.
Underlying the structure of the Parish Council is the recognition of the rights and responsibility of all the
baptized. It is participation in the ministry of the Church that allows the council to exist and provides a
means for a shared and collaborative ministry. Parish Councils are a way for all members of the Church,
priests and laity, by virtue of oneness in Jesus Christ to satisfy baptismal responsibilities. Our role as
believers is to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus to build the Kingdom of God on
earth. As Catholics, we do this within a communal context - a Parish. The work of a
Parish Council is the promotion of the mission of the Parish as well as that of the
Church.
