Welcome to St. Patrick’s Church!
Prayer of Hospitality
Lord Jesus, you welcomed all who came into your presence. May we reflect that same spirit through the gift of hospitality. As we greet people today, may they hear your
voice in our words; as we meet them, may we recognize your presence within them; and as we create a place for one another at the
Eucharistic table, may we discover the joy of serving you in others. Amen

Dear Friends
Dear Friends, Five summers ago, I had the joy of being assigned to
St. Margaret Mary’s and St. Patrick’s for the summer. I learned a lot that summer–
and I have many fond memories of those days. It is hard to believe that soon I will
become a priest! I will be ordained on Saturday, June 6, at 10 am at Ss. Peter & Paul
Cathedral in Indianapolis. My Mass of Thanksgiving (“First Mass”) will be at my home
parish, St. Charles Borromeo in Bloomington at 4 pm the same day. A reception will
follow at the parish. Pleas know that you are more than welcome to attend any of these
events, but we need an RSVP by May 1 at stcharlesbloomington.org/rsvp if you are
interested. Thanks so much and I hope to see you soon!
Peace and prayers, Dcn. Mike Keucher
Deacon’s Corner
Quiet Moments
A friend of mine told me that he always valued the time he spent fishing
with his dad. I asked him, “What made it so special?” He said simply that he just
like being with him. “So do you talk about things while you’re fishing?” I asked him.
“Oh, no, we don’t really talk,” he said, “We just fish.” It wasn’t the conversation, it
was the company.
Did you ever think about how much time we spend talking? In what we
like to call our quiet time with God, we usually fill in any silence with our prayers.
But do we ever practice of just being still? God said, “Be still and know that I am
God” (Psalm 46:11). When Jesus noticed that His disciples were so busy that they
didn’t even have time to eat, He told them to get away by themselves and rest a while.
When we leave the distractions of life behind, we can more easily rest and refocus on
God.
Are you allowing quiet moments alone with God to be a part of your life?
Do you desire for Him to restore your peace and tranquility? Quiet moments with
God store up power for future emergencies. As we begin Holy Week, take some quiet
moments out of your day to be still and reflect on what Jesus has done for us!
Together through prayer and service,
Deacon Mike

CRS RICE BOWLS
Hungering for the Seeds of Home– We follow Jesus this week on our Lenten journey as he enters into Jerusalem, a community he knew well. CRS Rice
Bowl asks us, too, to prayerfully enter into our own communities, to find those who are hungry and thirsty, who need our help. How does our Lenten
journey motivate us to serve those we encounter in our daily lives?

These Catechumens are preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation as they enter the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil:
Farrah Johnson, John Newlin, Crystal Combs, Scott Wynn, Ava Wrede, Ava Boylan, Eli Pilant, Susan Dickerson

Boland, Bryanna Wynn, Dean Weaver, Trea Johnson

Dear Lord, Father of love and power, it is your will to establish everything in Christ and to draw us into His all embracing love. Guide the elect of your

Christ our Lord. Amen.

“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother
in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God
abide in him?” 1 John 3:17
When we watch our friends come in for a meal, we are
faced with brothers in need. It is not something that we
can take lightly, and it challenges us to be giving and
empathetic with their plight. Pray for us that we will
continually show God’s mercy in the midst of a busy kitchen service. The needs that we face can be overwhelming at
times, and we covet your prayers that God’s mercy will
grow in us that we can adequately minister to those he
brings to us.

Easter mystery. It is a day of declaration of reparation for
all sin, thus the Day of Atonement.”
