SVIT-IEEE MOU
A step in academia- research understanding
Sai Vidya Institute of Technology reached a milestone in its academicresearch endeavor today, by signing a first of its kind MOU with IEEE.
Mr. Harish Mysore, Director-India operations, IEEE, and Prof. M. R.
Holla, Director, SVIT signed the official MOU. Mr. Harish, aptly
emphasized India’s lions share in IEEE community in terms of
publications, citations as well as access and downloads. He further
explained the need of hour to inculcate ‘hands on’ training in subjects
like VLSI with the aid of active learning and assessment. The MOU
signed today aims to achieve the two fold agenda of bridging academiaindustry gap while helping evolve teaching-learning process from
passive chalk-talk to active self learning. Prof. Y. Jayasimha, Dean
Academics, rightly discussed the lack of freedom in designing courses
and problems faced by affiliated colleges with regard to being
“relevant” to current industry trends. He opined that MOUs such as the
one signed today are the best means of being at par with research and
thus match industry trends. Mr. Louis D’Mello, International Area
manager- India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, IEEE, Mr. Yogendranath, Senior
Manager- Business Development, IEEE and Mr. Venkatesh, Sales
Manager- Business Development, IEEE were also present at the
occasion.
