Selected applicant must verify past experience and hold a current Colorado teaching
certificate and be able to meet requirements for NCLB “highly qualified”.

Broad scope of position:







Reports to the building Principal.
Teaches physical education at Salida Middle School and other duties as
appropriate in support of the schools programming
Demonstrate successful teaching experience with middle school age students as
well as a personal commitment to constant improvement as a professional.
Ability to work with and create a positive rapport with students and parents
A commitment to work collaboratively with colleagues
Experience using technology to support instruction
Ability to make a positive contribution to the school and community
Preferred experience/knowledge/ability:





Be licensed by the State of Colorado as a PE teacher. (Preference will be given
to candidates with multiple endorsements)
Foreign Language/Spanish teaching endorsement preferred
Be familiar with State Health and Physical Education Standards as well as
CONTEMPORARY Physical Education practices
Be creative and thoughtful in developing lesson plans that encourage individual
and group participation
Coaching experience preferred
