Since our founding as a record wholesaler in 1988, in a small apartment in
Machida, Tokyo, we always asked ourselves a simple question of why, to explore
the essence of things. This simple question helped us come up with new ideas
free from any conventional paradigm or knowledge.
"No one is doing it, so Avex will do it." This was the kind of thinking that perceived
trends and needs in society from the viewpoints of both creators, who are
always looking half a step ahead, and consumers, to deliver entertainment
created by artists.
The way people enjoy music has diversified in recent years. Sales of music
packages, which have been the mainstay of our business, are shrinking in
step with the industry as a whole. On the other hand, the Live Business is
performing well because of a growing demand for enjoying live music. Online
video distribution services such as BeeTV, d-VIDEO powered by BeeTV, and
UULA are growing rapidly, and have become one of the stable sources of
revenue for the Avex Group.
We now find ourselves in an age when the Internet makes it easy to obtain all
kinds of information. Users have more opportunities to come into contact with
music and reviews than ever before. This calls for artists and performers to have
real talent to be popular.
Going forward, the Avex Group will continue to evolve entertainment platforms
including digital distribution and live performance management, and we will
work together as one group to further develop talent and entertainment contents.

Announcement on the reconstruction of the Avex headquarters building
To maximize company profit, demerger of
a portion of the business under Avex
Management Inc. was conducted in August
2013. Avex Vanguard Inc., Avex Sports Inc.
and Avex Vibe Production Inc. were set up as
a result of this demerger. Also, In April 2014,
Avex Pictures Inc. was established to further
strengthen the Group's Video Business
through diversification and expansion into
other peripheral businesses. By means
of these organizational changes, Avex
Group has formed a structure in which the
individual companies will be able to attain
even more outstanding commercial success.

In November 2013, Avex Group announced a
plan to reconstruct its headquarters. In
consideration of the huge monetary amount
to be incurred for seismic retrofitting and its
brand image associating Avex with Aoyama
that it has nurtured as a comprehensive
entertainment company, Avex Group decided
to reconstruct the existing building which
operates as headquarters. Completion of
the new headquarters is scheduled for
September 2017.

Avex Group established Avex International
Holdings Singapore Pte. Ltd. in Singapore
in July 2013 in order to shift the focus of
its Asia business from China to Southeast
Asia. Based in Singapore, it will operate an

entertainment business and the mobile
broadcasting business.

Since 2008, Avex Group has been hiring
leading athletes with disabilities and
ambitions to compete at the world level as
employees. In 2013, we launched the avex
challenged athletes team. Currently, Avex
Group supports 12 athletes in their activities.
In the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games in
Sochi, Avex Group dispatched the largest
number of athletes as a company, to the
world stage of competition. With the 2020
Tokyo Olympic Games coming up, we will
continue to support these athletes that

Avex Broadcasting & Communications Inc. is a joint venture established by Avex Entertainment Inc. and NTT
DOCOMO, Inc. to develop a market for entirely new video entertainment based on mobile phones. In May 2009,
it launched BeeTV as a broadcasting station airing original programs exclusively for mobile phones. This was
followed by the launch of d-VIDEO powered by BeeTV in November 2011. It is a fixed-rate service for smartphones
that offers unlimited access to approximately 20,000 drama, animation, music and BeeTV titles. The content
titles are now available not merely with smartphones but with tablets, computers and television sets as
well. Through marketing, it will continue to provide titles that satisfy users’ needs. (As of March 31, 2014,
BeeTV and d-VIDEO powered by BeeTV serve an approximate total number of 5.3 million subscribers.)

UULA Inc. is a joint venture between Avex Entertainment Inc. and Softbank Corporation for the joint operation
of comprehensive entertainment services centering on fixed-rate online music and video distribution services.
In February 2013, a comprehensive entertainment app called UULA was launched. It offers unlimited
access to approximately 60,000 different content titles, including music videos, live concert videos, karaoke,
movies, dramas, animations and original titles available only on UULA. Combining Avex Group’s planning
and production capabilities with the Softbank Group’s internet development strength and infrastructure
centering on smartphones, it will continue to revitalize and constantly expand the music and video content
market through collaboration between the two corporate groups.
