ALL PARADE PARTICIPANTS WHO PLAN TO RIDE ON A BOAT, OR A FLOAT, MUST ARRIVE TO THE STAGE AREA ON MAIN STREET (EAST OF US 301) IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER: • ON THEIR OWN MEANS (PARKING AREAS WILL BE LIMITED) • AS A PASSENGER ON A GOLF CART THAT WILL BE PARTICIPATING AS A SUPPORT VEHICLE • BY SITTING EITHER INSIDE THE TOW VEHICLE OR INSIDE THE BED OF THE TOW VEHICLE AT THE END OF THE PARADE ROUTE, THE SAME RULE APPLIES AS THERE WILL BE A LOAD OFF AREA (IF NEEDED) BEFORE ENTRIES CAN CONTINUE ON IN TRAFFIC. ALL ENTRIES IN THE PARADE MUST DISPLAY A NUMBERED GREEN STICKER ON THEIR WINDSHIELD. NON-RACE TEAM PARADE PARTICIPANT – SPONSORS PARADE RULES AND REGULATIONS FESTIVAL PARADE OF BOATS JULY 3, 2015 – 6:00 P.M. Suncoast Charities for Children thanks you for participating in the Festival Parade of Boats. In order to avoid confusion and to help the parade proceed as smoothly as possible it would be appreciated if everyone would comply with the following procedures. PARADE: Friday, July 3, 2015 6:00 p.m. staging for Floats/Other Entrants: On Main Street east of U.S. 301. Entry is from Fruitville Road via School Avenue beginning at 4:00 p.m. Dignitaries must be in staging area by 5:15 p.m. Parade Marshals are in WHITE SHIRTS WITH RED LETTERING. Please give them your full cooperation. The parade route is Main Street, beginning at US 301 and proceeding to Gulfstream Avenue where the parade ends. PARADE: MARSHALS: Parade marshals, identified by their WHITE SHIRTS WITH RED LETTERING, will be directing the various units in the parade. They will be watching for safety concerns and insuring that the parade proceeds smoothly. It is required that you give them whatever assistance is requested and comply with any instructions or directions given to you. Offshore volunteers will also be on duty to help provide property control 1. SAFETY is our first concern and is part of the insurance requirement for the parade. There are no exception(s) to the following rules. • ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IS PERMITTED TO BE THROWN FROM ANY VEHICLES. • NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED IN PARADE VEHICLES/BOAT/FLOATS. SARASOTA POLICE WILL REMOVE ANY VIOLATOR(S). NO WARNING NECESSARY. If you have items to be given out you may have crew members walk next to your entry vehicle to hand out the items You are prohibited from distributing or throwing any item that will cause a child or adult to be drawn into the parade’s path itself to retrieve the item. Items must be distributed into the crowd. No one is allowed to ride in an unsafe or unsecured manner. No jumping on or off a vehicle/boat/float while moving. All participants must be on the vehicle/boat/float at the start of the parade. No one is allowed to join during the parade route. A Florida statute prohibits riders to be anywhere on a boat or float being towed by a trailer except within the permitted parade area. Passengers who plan to be in a boat, or on a float, must meet at staging area on Main Street, east of U.S. 301 in the following manner: • On their own means (parking areas will be limited) • As a passenger on a golf cart that will be participating as a support vehicle • By sitting either inside the tow vehicle or inside the bed of the tow vehicle At the end of the parade route, the same rule applies as there will be a load off area (if needed) before entries can continue on in traffic. All participants in the parade must display a numbered green sticker on their windshield. DRIVER - NO EXCEPTIONS MADE DUE TO LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR RIDERS. 2. SPACING: Avoid sudden stops and turns. Remember that many passengers will have nothing to hold on to. Maintain a smooth steady pace and a twenty to thirty foot interval between vehicles. Avoid falling behind and then speeding up to catch up. Watch for spectators, especially kids, running between units during the parade. Any participating entry, which purposely obstructs the parade by unnecessary stopping, will be warned once and will be removed from the parade if it occurs again. NO CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF 12 WILL BE ALLOWED TO WALK NEXT TO OR NEAR A VEHICLE/BOAT/FLOAT DURING THE PARADE. 3. RAIN PROCEDURE: In the unlikely event it begins to rain once the parade has started the parade will continue as planned. If severe weather occurs during the parade the parade marshal can halt or cancel the parade depending on projected duration of the storm. Seek shelter in the event of lightening inside your entry vehicle if possible. 4. DRESS/FOUL LANGUAGE: Remember, this is a family affair, please dress appropriately, T-backs are prohibited. Any rude or offensive language is prohibited. 5. CARS/SIGNAGE: All dignitary vehicles must be provided by our Major Festival Sponsor, Sarasota Ford Super Center.
