the Razorback Basketball game on March 7.
Game attendees were able to
sign up for the competition
in Bud Walton Arena prior to the game. The randomly selected attendee would then have a chance to
win money for shots taken on the court.
Oman, a Little Rock native, said the time he was selected was his second time to sign up for the competition.
He took shots from under the basket on each side of the goal before moving on to the free throw line, and
then moving on to the half court line. His half-court shot was featured on ESPN’s top 10 plays of the day.
“Being on ESPN was a dream come true. I never thought it would happen. But, I liked winning the $5,000
better,” Oman said.
Oman, a civil engineering major, was awarded his winnings by AFCU President/CEO Rodney Showmar at
the game against LSU on March 7.

Arkansas Federal Presents $20,000 Check to Arkansas Children’s Hospital
Arkansas Federal Credit Union,Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation employees, and ACH daycare attendees celebrate the $20,000 donation from the AFCU Swipe2Give campaign.
Arkansas Federal Credit Union President/CEO Rodney Showmar presented a $20,000 check to Arkansas Children’s Hospital February 11, 2015. The monies were raised
by members swiping their AFCU credit or debit card during the last two months of 2014. A portion of the proceeds from each individual swipe went toward the
$20,000.
ACH was chosen as the recipient through an online voting process that was open to the public. In November 2014, AFCU asked the public, via Facebook, to nominate
their favorite local charity to receive up to $20,000. After two weeks of nominating, the top five nominees went to a vote. The top five were ACH, CARTI, Habitat for
Humanity of Pulaski County, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and Pathfinder, Inc.
There was then a six week voting period, where the public could vote once a day per person via Facebook for one of the top five charities. Voting was also encouraged
by AFCU on Twitter and Instagram (@ArkansasFederal). There were a total of 10,495 votes and of those ACH received the most with 4,920 votes.

Data Security: How Your Credit Union is Looking Out for You
As data breaches at merchants continue to permeate the news, we want you to know that Arkansas Federal Credit Union is ready to help if your personal or financial
data is ever compromised. We take service to our members seriously and will do everything we can to ensure that action is taken – quickly – to help you avoid
becoming a victim of identity or account theft.
Your credit union is subject to strong data security standards established by Congress and federal regulators. While data breaches can happen anywhere, we are
ready with a plan designed to ensure the safety and confidentiality of your sensitive data.
Unfortunately, merchants and retailers aren’t subject to these federal requirements. Many of them follow their own data security standards, but, as the crush of data
breaches over the last couple of years has shown, these self-imposed merchant standards are no substitute for a stronger federal standard.
When it comes to protecting your personal information, every measure counts.
When your debit or credit card data is breached at a merchant, the cost of card replacement or account reimbursement to you is typically paid by your credit union
and not the retailer where the breach occurred. Unfortunately, this can become a very expensive proposition for the credit union, as we are often never reimbursed
for these costs by merchants—as there is no liability requirement on them to pay for data breaches that occur on their watch.
We want you to know that in the event of any breach affecting your accounts, this credit union will always do what we can to make you whole. In the meantime,
credit unions around the country are leading the effort to get Congress to pass legislation ensuring merchants and retailers meet a national standard for protecting
any of your financial data they collect when you make a purchase and are held liable for breaches that occur on their end. We hope you will support us in this effort.
While we can’t control what happens at merchants and retailers, we want you to know that AFCU will do everything we can to assist you and your family if a breach
does occur when you use your debit or credit card. You can always feel free to reach our Member Service Center at 501-982-1000 or 800-456-3000.
ATM Deposits
AFCU Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity
As of March 16, 2015 Arkansas Federal Credit Union no longer accepts
deposits through our ATMs.
As your financial cooperative, we continually strive to use members’ resources
wisely, make sound decisions, and run our operations as efficiently as possible.
With less than two percent of members utilizing this service, we have chosen
to discontinue the ATM deposit option. This allows us to continue to offer
new products and services and keep up with technological advances that
benefit AFCU’s membership as a whole.
We offer several alternative ways to make a deposit that include: AFCUDeposit
Mobile app, night depository at any of our Service Centers, or mailing in your
deposit.
We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. If you need
any assistance, please visit any of our service centers or you may contact our
Member Service Center at 501-982-1000 or toll-free at 800-456-3000.
