Councillor Peter Gruen said: “It’s not just important to provide council housing, but housing that supports people’s needs. The total remodel of Ingram Court means that we now have a bright, modern, comfortable environment that will give people their independence with the reassurance of help should they need it. Central to our housing regeneration project is the drive to improve the lives of local residents which Ingram Court will undoubtedly deliver.” Jon Hinchliff said: “One of the most rewarding aspects of working on a scheme like the housing regeneration project is making a positive difference to the neighbourhoods and communities living here. It’s been lovely to welcome residents moving in to Ingram Court and we wish them well in their new home. Personal Safety Workshops for people with learning and other disabilities Local people in Holbeck and Beeston can explore personal safety together through local organisation, People Matters. From April 2015 People Matters are providing: • workshops from their base in Holbeck for adults and young people with disabilities who may be particularly vulnerable and isolated • ways to keep safe when travelling or being out and about. What to do if something happens to them or they witness something. Chief Executive Tina Turnbull, said: “Many people can be really worried about being out and about independently. Our workshops include looking at questions like, What is safeguarding and what does it mean for individuals? Hate crime – what is it? How not to be a victim or even a perpetrator of hate crime’’ The project still needs to recruit people to take part. More information is available on our website.
