Free to Scarab Club members for meetings of up to
2 hours, with a maximum of 12 people Meetings must be held during regular gallery hours.
Rental rates are per hour, from first arrival of host or guests to last departure from the building. Our rental minimum is four hours during the day and five hours in the
evening. One half of the total Scarab Club rental contract fee (not including catering costs) is required to reserve the date. Final payment is due ten business days prior to
the event. This non-refundable deposit and signed contract is required to hold any requested dates. Rental rates are subject to change. A security deposit (as a separate
check or money order) will be paid along with the final payment, at least ten business days before the event. The deposit will be returned to the renter after the event. The
deposit covers potential damage to Scarab Club property or overage to the contracted rental hours.

LOCATION The Scarab Club is located at 217 Farnsworth at the
corner of John R, across from the Detroit Institute of Arts. Parking
in the private Scarab Club lot is limited; additional parking is
available in the DIA’s gated lot off John R for a fee of $7 .
We take pride in making food from scratch from seasonal locally
sourced ingredients. It is our goal to provide you with the highest
quality food and service for your events. If you are looking for
something not listed on our menus, let us know and we can plan
a menu to suit your specific needs. Our party planners can help
create a memorable event, whether simple or extravagant.
The choice to hold your event at the Scarab
Club not only provides a wonderful, distinctive
venue, but also helps to support our efforts to
present the best in arts programming.
HISTORY The Scarab Club was founded in 1907 by a group of
artists and art lovers. Designed by Lancelot Sukert, the Scarab
Club’s purpose-built home was completed in 1928 and is listed on
the National Register of Historic Places. Our rich history includes
the tradition of signing the wooden beams in the second floor
lounge. A “who’s who” of artist signatures can be seen there,
from Diego Rivera to Tyree Guyton. Hosting a varied line-up of
exhibitions, lectures, concerts and more, the Scarab Club serves as a
cultural anchor in midtown Detroit.
MEMBERSHIP Now is the perfect time to become a member
of the Scarab Club! We are an active community of artists,
musicians, poets, writers and art lovers. Membership supports
programs and building preservation and provides benefits, from
free sketch classes to discounts for events.
PRIVATE EVENTS Leaded glass windows, Art Deco-style lights
in the lounge, a gallery featuring contemporary artwork, and a
private courtyard garden all form a distinctive setting for your
