All children deserve to be nourished but many young children with developmental delays have not been properly identified as having feeding problems. Professionals working with young children have the opportunity to identify and stop this cycle through effective implementation of strategies that help children with developmental delays diversify their palates to meaningfully improve acceptance of foods. In this workshop you will learn to identify medical, motor, sensory and other key factors impacting a child’s success with eating. You will be given handouts and checklists to assist in planning comprehensive feeding programs for children with mild to severe developmental delays, Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders and tube fed children. Video case studies and break-out sessions will give you the opportunity to apply your knowledge and practice communicating your recommendations in a supportive environment. You will leave equipped with everything you need to implement comprehensive feeding programs in your practice setting the next day. About Your Program Instructor Becky Miksic, OTR/L, T-NLP, T-TET, CHt has 14 years of experience in pediatric feeding. Her company, End Picky Eating, focuses on home based feeding therapy as well as parent and professional education through webinars and live classes. Becky has worked in out-patient clinics, public and private schools, daycares, preschools and homes. She has helped children with Autism, Downs Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorders, genetic disorders, Failure to Thrive and GERD to expand their food repertoire as well as transitioned tube fed children to oral feedings. To better address the strong emotional component that accompanies feeding challenges, Becky became a certified Trainer and Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Time Empowerment® Techniques. She has combined this with her clinical experience and training in the Sequential Oral Sensory Approach® to feeding to develop a comprehensive approach to resolving feeding problems. As someone who is passionate about helping children, Becky decided that teaching is the best way to touch the most lives.
