Letter From the Parochial Vicar
Dear Friends,
“Why do you seek the living one among the dead? He is not here, but he has been
raised.”
Luke 24: 5-6
Happy Easter! Alleluia, Alleluia!
What a great time of year. It’s a time of year that is vibrant and full of life. Spring
is a time of new beginnings. Just think about nature – everything starts coming
back to life after a cold and dark winter and we begin to experience the warmth and
light of spring. In a similar way we can think about the darkness of the crucifixion
and death of Jesus, and then the light, joy and hope of the resurrection we celebrate
on Easter. Jesus’ resurrection brings each one of us the joy, vibrancy and hope we
feel this Easter Season – the hope of eternal life.
Let’s carry that joy and hope we experience today on Easter with us throughout the
whole year. I wish you and all your families a very Happy and Holy Easter!
God Bless,
Fr. Chris

We Are Called To Sanctify
ADORATION CHAPEL Come and receive the special outpouring of God’s grace that many of our
parishioners have already experienced by spending time with Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament.
Come and be blessed at your own convenience. The chapel is open from 6AM until Midnight every day except
Sunday: Noon to midnight. If you would like any information, please contact Marge at 786-0407; Patty at 7862749 or Bill Gallagher at 609-760-9555.
VOCATION PRAYER CHALICE
Nearly 150 families, including singles and couples have taken the Blessed Chalice into their homes to
pray for vocations once a day for one week. The prayer is furnished. We had one vocation from our
parish in 2014. Several have taken it more than once for a special occasion in their home. Each weekend, at a Mass of
your choice, a parishioner or parish family is called to the sanctuary after communion to accept the Chalice (or you may
take it privately after Mass). The following Saturday the Chalice is returned to the chapel in Marsh Hall and placed on the
altar.
Please find it in your heart to call or volunteer. Thank you.
Please call Pamela and Don Grimme at 856-829-6488
The Prayer Chalice will be in the home of the Finney Family for the week of April 12 th.
The Prayer Chalice will be in the home of the Sabatino Family for the week of April 19 th.

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES
April 2015: All Love Bears Fruit
Not everyone is called to marriage. But every life is
meant to be fertile. Every life has the power and the
need to nurture new life – if not through bearing and
raising children, then through other vital forms of
self-giving, building and service. The Church is an
extended family of different vocations, each distinct
but each needing and supporting the others.
Priesthood, religious life and the celibate lay vocation
to enrich, and are enriched by, the witness of the
married state. The different ways of being chaste and
celibate outside of marriage are ways of donating
one’s life to God’s service and the human community.

We Are Called to Educate
Spotlight on 5A
by Mrs. Kelly Meyer
It's been quite an exciting winter at St. Charles. We returned from Christmas break ready to learn
and prepare for Catholic Schools Week. The theme was faith, knowledge, and service - all of which
can be found throughout the halls and classrooms of St. Charles Borromeo School. The education a
student receives in a faith-centered school is unprecedented. Take a moment and check us out. You
won't be disappointed.
The 5th grade kept warm during the blustery days of January and February through creative writing
activities like our winter-themed cinquain poetry written on cups of hot chocolate with 3D
marshmallows. The students also honed in on their use of adjectives, pronouns, and various forms
of punctuation. We worked across the curriculum by studying the northeast in Social Studies, in
particular New York. We then used our math skills to graph out a picture of 1/2 the Statue of
Liberty to match a 1/2 sheet printed copy of Lady Liberty. The end result was a beautifully hand
drawn symbol of American history.
With the Pi Day of the Century this year, 3.14.15, 5A had to celebrate in a big way. We went on a
virtual field trip to the National Institute of Standards and Technology to learn the many daily uses
of Pi in our lives. We also felt that you couldn't have a Pi Day celebration without eating apple
Pi(e) and several other round snacks that had varying circumferences. We measured the diameter
of our apple pies, chocolate chip cookies, Rolo candies, paper plates, and tape rolls to find the
circumference of each item. The class even made Pi bracelets and memorized the first 100 digits of
Pi 3.1415926535...
In Religion we've been studying Saint Joseph and Saint Patrick for March. Please check out the
downstairs showcase where our Saint Patrick research and shamrock haiku poetry about the Holy
Trinity is placed. We are also deepening our understanding of Reconciliation and Penance,
Confirmation, and the true meaning of Lent and Easter. We will be continuing our Lenten journey
with activities such as participation in our Lenten Prayer services, researching the meaning and
beginnings of the Stations of the Cross along with its importance to Christians from the Middle
Ages until today, and the Jelly Bean prayer. You can find the Jelly Bean Prayer at
http://www.mamarocks.com/jellybean_prayer.htm. It's a great little activity that could become a
new family tradition.
We would like to wish all of our parish community a blessed Holy Week and Easter celebration.
Thank you for all of your continued support. It doesn't go unnoticed. God bless each and every one
of you!

ST. CHARLES RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Religious Education students are enjoying a welcome Easter break after a very
successful year to date. Students in grades 1 through 8 brought in backpacks and
toiletries for homeless students who attend a camp for 2 weeks each summer in New
York. The generosity of the students and their families has become the cornerstone of
this wonderful program.
Our students also took home mission banks on Ash Wednesday and returned them to
class last week. Once again, St. Charles Religious Education’s concern and care for
those less fortunate has shone forth with our students bringing in $800.00 which will be
sent to the Mission Office headed by Father PJ. This money is distributed all over the
world to third world countries who need our help.
We are very proud of our 8th grade students who recently received the sacrament of Confirmation. They
worked very hard and have now received their third sacrament of initiation. On March 27th, our students
portrayed the Stations of the Cross for the parish.
When we return from Easter break, our second grade students will complete their final preparations for the
reception of the sacrament of Holy Eucharist on Saturday, May 2nd.
St. Charles Religious Education wishes all our families a very Holy and Happy Easter.
