JOB DESCRIPTION
The Local Digital Content Manager’s responsibility is to oversee and coordinate all logistics pertaining to
publication of editorial web content and social media on The Beast 980 sites and products, including, but not
limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and the Beast 980 App. The position operates, writes and executes
editorial content for The Beast 980 website and oversees all local digital content and social media content. The
role is responsible for the audience growth of the station brands online, and in the creation of content programs
that will generate revenue opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Be responsible for executing the digital editorial vision and station strategic plan and to lead editorial
content and vision for all local team contributors
 Be responsible for leading and executing the editorial vision of The Beast 980 and in turn growing the
traffic to the website thru these strategies
 Oversee, manage, and be responsible for resource management, working on the main goal of growing
local traffic among station sites and app while providing content opportunities from which the Sales
Manager can generate revenue
 Write demographically targeted, timely, and relevant content on a daily basis for the target demographic
 Work with Program Director, Operations Manager and Producers/Board Operators, coordinating the
editing process, setting and enforcing deadlines
 Engage closely with station programming department to compliment and expand on-air opportunities thru
editorial posts, perspective, galleries, audio, and video
 Communicate editorial headlines to programming staff so there are specific teasers driving on-air
audiences to the Beast 980 sites and app
 Communicate editorial opportunities locally to sales
 Oversee logistics of editorial contributions, scheduling of posts from an editorial calendar, and timeliness
and relevance of contributors content
 Build a station editorial calendar and strategy around major local station events and on-air promotions to
maximize the traffic opportunity via editorial and surface internally to sales, programming
 Increase and improve activation of social media extensions such as Facebook and Twitter, to drive
content and traffic back to the station’s sites
 Ensure editorial delivery is consistent with the strategy, time, cost and quality parameters
 Ensure a consistent flow of local content to ensure there is fresh news for audiences
 Ensure a minimum of 2 of 4 Dynamic Leads are refreshed each weekday with either new image, story, or
headline
 Find ways to boost the popularity of the station’s website and increase user activity on the website and the
app
 Work with programming and contributing team to conceive, design and launch new editorial features
 Coordinate and ensure the overall quality and delivery of instant alerts and notifications on the stations

In conjunction with station Program Director, develop strategy and goals to increase website metrics, to
include unique users, total page views, streaming sessions and average session duration
In conjunction with station Program Director, develop strategy, goals and timelines to increase station’s
key app and social media metrics.
Put a fresh, local spin on well-covered stories
Be able to quickly write time-sensitive post (50 words) as well as a lengthier feature (150 words)
Be skilled at spotting developing sports trends and is a natural networker, building relationships within the
programming department to deliver exceptional content.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Strong familiarity and expertise with sports online formats with
3-5 years of web, social and overall online experience preferred.
 Experience editing and writing in web and other short form content
 Strong competency in all areas of web content management and production
 Strong sports/news judgment skills
 Experience developing and overseeing editorial content, including editing, quality assurance and
proofreading
 Ability to work and communicate well with others including senior management
 Excellent interpersonal verbal/written communication skills
 Computer savvy – you will be posting content
 Self-motivated, positive and collaborative attitude
 Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities in a timely fashion
 Fluency in Microsoft Office, Mac/PC software, and web/new media technology. Familiarity with
Photoshop, Flash, HTML a plus
This individual must have a strong understanding of the web and an aptitude for technology, as the primary
responsibility for this position will be the management of website and social media content, including the Beast
980 App.
