Role Description
The newly created Director of Finance and Administration will have the opportunity to
creatively build a critical function for the company while playing a vital role in the
execution of Build Inc.’s vision, goals, and strategy. The Director of Finance and
Administration will manage the company’s finance, accounting, administration, risk
management, and human resource functions and systems.
This individual will be responsible for a comprehensive set of controls and budgets
designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial
results, and ensure that reported results comply with legal reporting and accounting
standards. The Director of Finance and Administration reports to the Director of
Operations, but also interacts and advises regularly with all Partners. The position
directly supervises a team of staff members and consultants.

and innovative staff members. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing day to
day work, strategically guiding staff, and driving process improvements when needed.
The Director of Finance and Administration will have the opportunity to work in a
creative, collaborative work space in the center of San Francisco (Hayes Valley) at a
company that is creating character and meaning in public spaces through design projects
that set the tone for the surrounding neighborhood by including the community in each
phase of the development.
Responsibilities
➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ Supervise existing finance, accounting, and outside consulting team members
Help recruit, build, and manage the finance and accounting department
Supervise the financial management of large multimillion dollar real estate
investment projects
Evaluate, implement, and maintain fundamental accounting policies
Manage day-to-day accounting and cash flow maintenance
Manage accounting software, data exchange, formatting, and reporting
Develop and manage corporate banking relationships
Update financial models and analyze budget to actual activity

local, state, and federal agencies
Oversee archiving of project and accounting files
Financial oversight between Development Projects and Principals
Manage the setup and maintenance of all development LLC’s, compliance,
reporting, etc.
Oversee all financial reporting to principals, investors, banks, and outside financial
entities and partners
Organization, tracking, reporting, and dissemination of investor documentation
Manage and administer basic human resource policies and practices
Manage corporate risk practices and insurance policies
Manage IT, operating equipment, and infrastructure requirements
Preferred Qualifications

Departmental leadership and senior management experience
Deep real estate industry expertise
Accounting software proficiency (Yardi and Quickbooks)
Trustworthy, with the ability to work with sensitive information
A self starter with superior interpersonal, communication, and organizational
skills
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and lead through influence
Adaptable, with the ability to perform well in an entrepreneurial environment
Passion for real estate, housing, and community building in San Francisco
Certified Public Accountant designation
Bachelor’s degree
Compensation
