The struggle for success
BY: Alysa Wall
“You’re off to great places. Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way” … Dr. Seuss
This is day I have struggled to get to; a day I’ve had a countdown for since I was ten. A day I never thought would
come. A day that I will never forget. I will have a day to celebrate what I have worked for twelve years. I have fought for this
day. For me, it has been difficult.
The one word I would use to describe high-school is “Almost”. Sophomore year, I almost didn’t get my driver’s license. I almost won the car in Key’s for Success. I took Math 1010 and Math 1050, it was brutal and I almost didn’t pass the
classes. I almost didn’t go to senior ball. There have been a lot of “almost”. This is the main reason I’m so excited to graduate.
This day brings up a lot of different emotions for people. Some are sad, some are relieved, some are terrified, and others just don’t care. When asked to describe these emotions in two words, Vincent Aphyrath said he has “mixed emotions.”
One student simply said that it was “about time.” Everyone’s high school experience is different, but I think we can all agree
that it was difficult. High school is difficult for everyone in different ways. Maybe it’s the homework, or you just really hate
your classes. Maybe high school is difficult because of something that doesn’t even have to do with school.
We
can
all
agree on one thing, though: we all got through it.
These past twelve years have been amazingly stressful, terribly wonderful, and painfully rewarding. It will all be
worth it as soon as I am handed that diploma. I have worked hard and played hard these past twelve years. I have finally
finished this chapter of my live. So, congratulations and good luck
The end we have been working for

"You can Google for an answer. You can Google for a mate. You can Google for a career. But you can't Google to find what's in your
heart, the passion that lifts you skyward." - Plumeri
The end of the year creeps closer and 590 students of the Class of 2015 have the same thought. Graduation means
the final farewell, the last chance to leave the impression. Graduation is an accomplishment; graduation an end for a new
beginning.
I graduated from Hunter High; I worked hard to get where I am during my senior year. Credit recovery was not easy. I
know I should have passed the first time, but at that time I didn't care. I thought high school was a waste of my time because I had other things to do besides sit in a classroom and be entertained. I didn't realize that the things I did and learned
here would add up to the greater picture and that greater picture is standing on a stage, in front of all my friends and family
and being handed a diploma. Getting my diploma means that I have finished a goal and I'm onto the next.

“I may not be there yet, but I’m closer than I was yesterday.”
I am very proud to tell my family and peers that I am graduating this year as a junior. I had to pass all my in-school classes
as well as completing online classes. I did all of this, kept a 4.0 GPA and worked a full-time job at Avalon Valley Rehab. Anyone can do this if you’re willing to put in the work. I set the goal at the beginning of my junior year and going home for lunch
with my friend Hannah every day was the best part of this year. After high school I plan to attend SLCC and Utah Valley
University with a major in Psych.
