luck on their FSA and
EOC’s! We know our
students have worked
hard this year, and we’re
confident it will pay off!
Parent Night!
Join us for Parent Night, on April 30th. The night will
be centered on preparing for next year. During this
time, we will have information regarding the new
policies for next year. Also, to help your
registration process go faster, at the beginning of
the year, we will have forms that will allow you to
preorder next year’s uniforms. This year’s 7th grade
students will also be able to purchase the old
uniform shirts in a blowout sale! Help us prepare
the students for next year, by joining us, from
5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30th.

Tips for Going Beyond!
Get Ready …
FSA testing began yesterday and will continue through
the month of May. This time our tip for going beyond is
centered on the day of testing and how to get ready for
a test. Remember, to perform your best on a test get a
good night’s rest the night before and have a healthy
breakfast that will stick with you through the long
morning.
There is nothing worse, than having to try and focus
through the grumbling of a hungry stomach and the
daze of sleep deprivation. The two simple acts of
getting a good night’s sleep and having breakfast in the
morning will do wonders when preparing your child for
their test.
The 2014-2015 DJA Yearbook is now on sale! There
are just a few Yearbooks left. If you would like to
purchase one for your child. The Yearbooks are 64
pages and all in color. The price is now $30.00.
You may send the money to Mrs. Walker or Ms.
Wimberly. Be sure to order one for your child
before we run out. Thank you for your help and
support!
School Lunch: $2.30
Notebook Paper and Pencils: $10.00
Uniform Shirt: $12.00

Please note that beginning on April 13th road construction will be occurring on 6th
Avenue, making it a one way street. Unfortunately, due to its location, the
construction will affect the drop off and pick up procedures for students. The new
procedures and a map of the new traffic patterns are included below for your
convenience. Also, please note that with the change in traffic pattern, it is a possibility
for drop off/pick up to take longer than normal.
Please do your best to accommodate for the extra time needed while dropping off
your students. It is our goal to make this testing time as calm and distraction free for
our students as possible. By arriving a couple minutes early, it will ensure that all of
our students are present and ready on the mornings of testing. This will undoubtedly
make for a smoother transition into testing for our students. Should you have any
questions about the new traffic patterns, please do not hesitate to call the office. We
are always more than willing to help you in any way that we can.
The Inside Scoop…
Science
Beginning this year, the Florida Department of
Education is transitioning to the new Florida Standards
Assessments (FSA), which replaces the FCAT 2.0
assessments in reading, writing, and mathematics.
However, Science students will still participate in the
FCAT 2.0 Science assessment aligned to the Next
Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS).
Social Studies
The following students participated in the 2015
Academic Team Tournament on Tuesday March 24th, at
the Lakeland Center. These students worked very hard
to prepare for the competition and made DJA proud! A
special shout-out to Mrs. Burdett and her 6th grade
team. They were the strongest team in the room during
the 6th grade round!
