Are you working as a plant operator in the civil construction industry,
participating in a broad range of jobs?
COURSE OVERVIEW
This qualification reflects the role of a skilled
operator working in civil construction plant,
who applies a broad range of skills in a varied
work context, using some discretion and
judgement and relevant theoretical
knowledge. The individual may provide
theoretical advice and support a team.
COURSE DURATION
This program is offered as a 36 month
traineeship. Formal training may be
completed in a shorter amount of time.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS




Civil Train will conduct a Foundation Skills
entry assessment at a level required to
successfully complete the qualification
and work in the industry at the level
required for this qualification. Potential
clients who are identified as not meeting
course entry requirements will be assisted
with referral to appropriate support
services.
In general, participants will need to be
physically fit due to the nature of the
work.
Entrants will be required to be employed
in the civil construction industry.
Entrants will be required to have a White
Card prior to starting training on the
qualification.
DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT
There are theory and practical training
and assessment components to the
course. Skills will be trained and assessed
through a mixture of off-the-job and onthe-job training and assessment.
Credit Transfer
Credit transfer involves assessing a
previously completed course or subject
to see if it provides equivalent learning or
competency outcomes to those required
within the current course of study.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and
Recognition of Current Competency
(RCC)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and
Recognition of Current Competency
(RCC) provides students an opportunity
to have their current skills and
competencies recognised. These skills
and competencies may relate to units
that they are about to commence and
as a result may exempt them from
studying these units.

RII30813 Certificate III in Civil Construction is partially funded by Skills for All. Eligibility criteria apply.
Current student course fees for RII30813 will not be less than $2300. Student Course Fees and
optional incidental expenses are indicative only and are subject to confirmation at the time of

Enrolment conditions are attached to this qualification under Skills for All. Enrolment in this course is
only for trainees/apprentices under an approved training contract, school-based trainees or
