ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides excellent instruction in lower-division anatomy/physiology and genetics courses at the Downtown Phoenix Campus in the College of
Letters and Sciences. These courses include BIO 201, BIO 202, and BIO 340 (different courses may be added later as the school’s course
offerings grow). Develops course syllabi according to university and discipline standards. Develops and implements course curricula, including
recitations and labs, in consultation with other faculty and staff. Writes and grades quizzes, exams, lab reports, and problem assignments as
needed by the assigned courses, or directs these activities. Maintains student grade records as required by course assignment. Mentors
undergraduate student assistants in laboratory preparation and instruction. Works with other faculty and staff to manage day-to-day
operation of lab program. Reviews and evaluates effectiveness of teaching methods and work activities. Service to the university and the
profession will be required. Some supervisory work of staff and student workers is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Master's degree in human physiology or closely related discipline and two years teaching experience related to lower division
anatomy/physiology and genetics courses. Experience using technology for instruction in lecture and lab, including course management
systems, online homework, and laboratory equipment/software. Experience working in a collaborative environment with other biology
faculty. Teaching experience that emphasizes student success. Teaching experience and leadership in a large enrollment program, including
anatomy/physiology lecture and lab. Interest in biology education.
DESIRED
Ph.D. in biology discipline related to human anatomy and physiology. At least four years of anatomy and physiology teaching experience.
Experience teaching genetics. Experience and sensitivity to working with diverse students. Experience working in collaborative environments
within and across disciplines. Formal background in anatomy/physiology education.
