ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Social Science Faculty in the College of Letters and Sciences at Arizona State University Polytechnic campus is
seeking an Instructor to teach five upper- and/or lower-division courses in Sociology per semester in both face-to-face
and online settings. Successful candidate should be able to teach SOC 420-Sociology of Religion.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Master’s degree in Religion, Sociology, or related interdisciplinary field; 1 year post-secondary experience teaching
courses in sociology or related studies; evidence of excellent teaching ability; experience using technology to teach
courses; excellent oral and written communication skills. Applicants who are not native speakers of English must
provide evidence of having received a minimum score of 55 on either the SPEAK test or the TSE.
DESIRED
Ph.D. in Religion, Sociology or related interdisciplinary field; experience teaching in multicultural contexts; experience
teaching online courses; experience developing technology-enhanced curriculum; expertise/experience in one or more
of the following fields: social studies, interdisciplinary studies or related.

GENERAL INFORMATION
This is an academic year appointment 8/16/2015 to 5/15/2016. This is not a tenure track position. Renewal is
conditional upon satisfactory job performance, the continued availability of funds, and the needs of the academic unit
and the university. Candidate must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate. Background check required prior to
employment.
