BSA North East Medical Sociology Group Event

BSA North East Medical
Sociology Group Event
Wednesday 22nd April 2015
At Northumbria University
Call for Papers
The North East Medical Sociology Group is currently planning its next half day seminar
which will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 22nd April 2015 at Northumbria
University. This promises to be another interesting and lively event.
The keynote speaker on this occasion will be Professor David Byrne, Director of
Postgraduate Studies in the School of Applied Social Sciences at Durham University. He
will speak on the topic, Evaluating Complex Interventions. Professor Byrne is also a Fellow
of the Wolfson Institute of Health and Wellbeing, and during his career has held many
positions of responsibility on national and regional organisations. In 2012, he received the
Social Policy Association (SPA) Special Recognition Award. For a full profile of his
achievements and publications, please go to
https://www.dur.ac.uk/sass/staff/profile/?id=645.
We would as usual like to offer researchers working in the field of medical sociology in the
North East the opportunity to make a short presentation about their research. We shall
select 2-3 presentations.
If you are interested in submitting an abstract, this should be of no more than 250 words.
Abstracts should be sent to Sue McAsey ([email protected]) by Friday, 30th January
2015. Contributions are invited from early career researchers and PhD students as well as
established academics.
Even if you are not currently interested in presenting your work, please make a note in your
diary to come along to this event. Further details and booking information will be
circulated in due course.
