Coca-Cola presents a series of short conversations
and tips designed to be shared between moms and
their teens over a couple of Mini Coke cans.
Discussing a teen’s academic future may be difficult,
so sharing a small treat together provides an
opening for these important topics.

MINI WAYS TO STRAIGHT A’s
One of the hardest things for all students to do in school is study. Especially in the teenage years, students have
all sorts of things competing for their attention. Staying focused and building the skills they need for college is
essential, but doesn’t have to be hard. Take a moment with your teen, open a couple of Mini Coke cans, and have
a short discussion about studying and grades that could set him or her off on the path to a great education.

Keep the pressure off. Striving for good grades is hard enough without added stress. Let your teen know
the importance of studying, but make sure he or she knows you have his or her best interests in mind.
Staying focused is more important than staying stressed. Students learn and grow at their own pace, so
be sure to measure their progress against themselves.
Consider study groups. Encourage your teen to get together with fellow students to tackle the work
together. Try hosting study sessions for the group, complete with Mini Cokes and snacks to help them
prep for a big test or complete a team project.
Look into tutoring to help students achieve more in the subjects that are more difficult. No one is good
at everything, so a tutor may help your teen focus and achieve a well-rounded education.
Time management is key, not only in the teen years, but especially when college begins. Help foster
this skill in your student by drawing up study plans and schedules. Let him or her know that having a
plan and sticking to it helps get the work done and keeps stress levels low. Be flexible and help your
teen find what works best for his or her lifestyle.
Give your teen a reward from time to time to acknowledge the effort and dedication he or she puts in.
A Mini Coke can is the perfect little treat to celebrate an uninterrupted study session or good marks
on an assignment.
Take these mini ways to straight A’s to heart, because each mini step you take can lead to big opportunities.
