Grassfed Beef Awards Terms and Conditions
1. Information on how to enter into the running for the awards forms part of
these Terms and Conditions of entry. Entry into the awards is deemed to be an
acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
2. Entry is only open to residents of Australia, except employees and their
immediate families of the Promoter (Meat & Livestock Australia Limited) and its
agencies associated with these awards.
3. For the purposes of these awards, ‘grassfed’ cattle must be fed a diet derived
solely from forage consisting of grass (annual and perennial) and forbs
(legumes, brassica, browse, cereal grain crops in a pre-grain state, legumes
and brassica).
Entries
4. Entries can be submitted for the following two awards:
(a) ‘Best Eating Experience: Grassfed Beef’ award; and
(b) ‘Recognition of Service to Grassfed Beef Promotion’ award in each of the
following categories:
(i)Producer;
(ii) Brand; and
(iii)Butcher.
5. To enter, entrants must complete and submit the entry form found at the
following link www.mla.com.au/grassfedawards. Entrants must provide
their full name, email address, phone number and address, answer questions
relevant to their application and upload relevant supporting documentation
(including, but not limited to, brand/product information, high resolution brand
logo, promotional examples e.g. photographs and advertising collateral, brand
development history and evidence of campaigns/voice to market).
6. Only one entry per entrant is permitted for the ‘Best Eating Experience:
Grassfed Beef’ award and one entry per entrant for each category of the
‘Recognition of Service to Grassfed Beef Promotion’ award. If an entrant is
entering more than one award or category, each entry must be submitted
separately and supported by its own entry from and supporting material.
7. The winners of the awards are selected solely based on skill and chance plays
no part in determining the winners.
8. All entries must relate to grassfed beef. Brands entered may have domestic or
international presence.
9. Entries open at 12.00am, Wednesday 18 March 2015 Sydney local time and
close at:
(a) 6pm, Friday 3 April 2015 Sydney local time for the ‘Best Eating Experience
– Grassfed Beef’ awards; and
(b) 6pm, Friday 10 April 2015 Sydney local time for the ‘Recognition of Service
to Grassfed Beef Promotion’ awards.
10. MLA does not accept any responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries.
‘Best Eating Experience: Grassfed Beef’ award
11. Entrants for the ‘Best Eating Experience: Grassfed Beef’ award must provide
the following samples of grassfed beef meeting the specifications set out
below to the Promoter by no later than 5pm, Thursday, 9 April 2015 (Sydney
local time):
(a) Sirloin (grill) – supplied as whole striploin, weight range 4-5.7kg
(b) Rump cap, cap on (roast) – weight range 11.5kg
(c) Topside (shabu) – 5.6-8kg
Samples must be delivered with minimum 10 days shelf life from 9 April 2015
and must have no more than 21 days ageing.

13. Entrants must cover the cost of transport and delivery of their samples and the
Promoter bears no responsibility for loss, damage to or late delivery of samples.
14. Each entry will be individually judged by the consumer judging panel selected
by the Promoter. Entries will be judged on tenderness, juiciness and flavour.
The winner will be the entry that achieves the highest score. If there is a tie for
first place, the winner will be selected from the tied entries by the Promoter’s
professional chef cooking the samples based on tenderness in the chef’s
absolute discretion. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered
into.
15. The Promoter and/or its representative may, in their absolute discretion,
refuse to cook or judge any samples which they believe do not meet the
specifications specified in paragraph 10 (above) or otherwise could cause
injury or sickness.

16. Each entry will be individually judged by the judging panel selected by the
Promoter based on the following criteria to obtain a score out of 30:
(a) Exemplary and innovative promotion of Australian grassfed beef
(b) Clear and concise messaging that benefits the marketing of Australian
grassfed beef
(c) Thought leader in category for the industry
The winner will be the entry with the highest score. If there is a tie for first
place, the winner will be the entry with the highest score for the ‘thought
leader’ in category for the industry from those tied for first place. The judging
panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Announcement of Winners
17. The winners of each award and category, as determined through means
described above, will be announced at the ‘Greener Pastures’ Function,
Rockhampton, 6.30pm, 6 May 2015. Winners will also be presented with their
awards at this function.
18. The entrants acknowledge that, other than the award and associated
promotions, there will be no prizes offered to the winners.
General terms
19. If the awards are not capable of running as planned, the Promoter reserves the
right to modify the terms of the awards, including these Terms and Conditions.
20. Each winner must, at the Promoter’s request, participate in all promotional
activity (such as publicity and photography) surrounding the winning of an
award, free of charge, and they consent to the Promoter using their name,
likeness, image, voice, recording and logo in such promotional material as
the Promoter may at its sole discretion decide for an unlimited period without
remuneration. The Promoter agrees to pay any reasonable travel and/or
accommodation costs of a winner should their attendance be required more
than 100km away from their usual place of residence.
21. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of
any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers,
computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on
the internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, (including but
not limited to) any injury or damage to participants’ or any other person’s
computer related to or resulting from participation in, or down-loading any
materials relating to, the awards.
22. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries
and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and address) and to disqualify
any entrant whose entry is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions
or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any
of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
23. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, the Promoter (including
its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including
negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including,
but not limited to, loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or
consequential, arising in any way out of or in connection with the awards.
24. The Promoter collects entrants’ personal information in order to conduct
the awards. If the information requested is not provided, the entrant may
not participate in the awards. By entering into the awards, unless otherwise
advised, each entrant also agrees that the Promoter may use this information,
or disclose it to other organisations that may use it, in any media for future
promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without any further reference,
payment or other compensation to the entrant. A request to access, update
or correct any information should be directed to the Promoter at its address
set out below. In other respects, personal information will be dealt with in
accordance with MLA’s privacy policy found at
www.mla.com.au/General/Privacy.
