SUMMER 2015 HOMEBREW COMPETITION Brew Style It’s time to be creative! Use malt, hops, yeast and other ingredients to come up with a great, refreshing summer beer. The only requirement we have is that your beer be 5.5% ABV or less AND use at least 20% wheat in the malt bill. Don’t be afraid to push the limits and go beyond your comfort zone and beer style parameters. Other Information and Rules Must live in Illinois Must be 21 years or older Amateurs only on homebrew setup - no commercial system Beer style/BJCP style category AND homebrew recipe must be declared on the submittal form Entries will not be returned Scorched Earth Brewing Team will judge entries The entire competition will be limited to the first 30 accepted beers And the winner is . . . The winning beer will be announced on Friday, June 12 at 7PM in the Scorched Earth Taproom The winner will have their recipe (Scorched Earth reserves the right to tweak it) brewed on our pilot system on Scorched Earth’s pilot system on a day/time that Scorched Earth Brewing Co. selects We will provide lunch and refreshments on brew day The winning beer will be sold in the tap room 20% percent of proceeds sold from the winning beer sales go to a charity that the winner designates (charity must be Illinois). Consolation prizes will be awarded to 2nd and 3rd Place Submittal Instructions Beer must be submitted between June 4th through June 11th Two bottles per entry - 12 oz no marking (only one beer per person) Complete submittal forms, which include 1 overall and 1 for each bottle. Forms are available on the Scorched Earth Brewing Company website or you can pick them up at the taproom. Don’t forget to identify a BJCP style and include your homebrew recipe. Do not mark the bottle!
